India's population is 1.48 billion, while the total population of Europe, with more than 45 countries, is about 740 million. China is a highly homogeneous country with 90% Han Chinese population and 80% of the population speaks the same language, Mandarin. The most spoken language in India is Hindi, spoken by only 48% of the population, and this includes dialects like Bhojpuri. Standard Hindi is spoken by only 27% of the population. India is subcontinent functioning as a country.

All 4 corners of India as well as central India are wildly different in almost all aspects of their lives. We have forcefully brought these wildly different people and made them stay together as 1. Every state is the size of a European country. One reason why India hasn't progressed as much is because of totally different people forced to work together as 1 when that is far from the case.

China is almost homogenous now but it was due to the forced assimilation policies of the long lines of emperors in China's history. China was made of many warring states with their own language, culture and traditions. First emperor Shi Huangdi went on a bloody forced assimilation process. He forced one language one system with brute force and conquered almost all of present day China. Which is why China is the world's oldest and longest lasting empire. The current communist leaders are not unlike the emperors of the past. They are continuing the policies of the past.

A correction please India is a subcontinent knit as a cultural land and divided in Muslim and non-Muslim parts . Non-moslim part known as Bharat, houses almost a muslim population bigger than islamic Pakistan. Non-Moslem Bharat in coming two-three decades may be overtaken by sharpely increasing Moslems' population and may become a new Pakistan , the end of age old humanity, liberalism, freedom of thought, speech ,belief and friendship with the entire world.

Similar to Indonesia. I think this can be quite mind-blogging for someone raised in a relatively homogenous area/country. I once heard a friend say that, "Naturally, each major island of Indonesia should've been their own countries as that would make more sense culturally." This was said in the context of us discussing about the cultural conflicts and a few major disputes/wars that resulted from them.

Christains and Muslim societies can advance rapidly because its easy for them to organise an entire population under a Pope, Caliph, or Imam, and have a consensus over what they want to do. But the same cant happen in Hinduism because Hinduism is not a single organised religion with a strict code of law, its a set of many religions and beliefs co existing, One community will say its bad to do animal sacrifice, another won't see any issue with it, the only factor binding them is that they all come from the same vedic roots and are under the Dharmic fold under which they organise when needed.

@@karumotoart5040Yes, any Islamic country can develop and advance including Pakistan. The only thing holding them back are their own political leaders, maulvis, and imams, who preach that education and science are creations of satan to distract Muslims. They do this because its easy to hold power over a weak and dumb society, and so they spread hate, and focus more on converting others to gain more power. @@karumotoart5040The diversity in outcome is solely due to leadership, and government structure, all these successful Islamic countries like Saudi, Qatar, or UAE, has monarchy, whose kings are prudent, while Iran and Pakistan tried democracy, and whenever Muslims are given democracy they always elect some regressive religious leader and these leaders ban education and science because they think it's a creation of Satan, and so keeping the population weak and dumb helps them in keeping their power at the cost of the general public.

And most of the rulers and general population converted to Hinduism ( Sanatani ) and the North East also had many trade with the other parts of India too and some major parts of North East was under the Gupta Empire and Nanda Empire for centuries. Hundred percent agreed. There are so many diverse groups here. People generally talk about the positives of diversity in terms of architecture, cuisine, religious events and languages. But they forget that almost always these groups have different versions of development and interests. Often these interests are opposite to each other. Even if your decision is rational and suited for the growth of the nation as a whole, some group will find it abhorrent. When protests happen, they will be portrayed as failure of the government. Not every leader is willing to take that risk. And that lack of risk taking appetite is holding us back severely.

Finally, a rational angle to the looming discourse on the maladies of Indian society which are many. This wasn't a ranty episode but a message those concerned with India's development need to hear. Before one has a chance to solve a problem, one needs to first accept it exists and ask the right questions. The Hydra analogy fits the Indian societal malaise well. One can't change a nation with massive population pools operating on a religiously retarded mindset, drowning in ignorance and superstition. To even broach this conversation with a fellow Indian, one has to pierce through layers of denial, delusion, and cope. Modern world has been engineered by rational minds and countries like India are functioning at the bottom-rung of that global order. India is in a dire need for cultural reinvention. Every generation has to have conversations and confront issues that their predecessors have ignored and neglected. Culture goes beyond costumed role-play. How you dress, what folk songs you dance to, and what deities you grovel at has no impact on what feeds you. But what you produce and offer to the economy does. As was perfectly posited at the end of the video, the cult of the village must be supplanted by the creed of the polis!

I, however, don't agree that "freebies" are bad and I say this as a salaried individual who sees 20-25% of her income vanish in the form of direct taxes. It is only when people are fed 2 square meals and are able to manage their health and those who are dependent on them, can they think of steps towards progress. Otherwise everyone's just in survival mode. UK, Germany etc also have freebies in the form of a robust Healthcare system or free education. Reservation and freebies ought to be monitored to reach the people it was intended for. They definitely must not be done away with altogether. The lack of an effective opposition party is a big problem for Indian democracy. The Congress Party is useless, with no leadership. Other than the Congress Party India has only regional parties with nothing in common other than opposing the BJP. It is amazing how India is holding together as one country. Diversity is enormous. The south India is totally different from the north. People in Tamil Nadu are all anti-Hindi and the governing party ( DMK) is anti-Hindu even though most Tamilians are religious Hindus. Truly appreciate your analysis. We have so much people , talent and capability to be an asset to this world but our systems of today have gone corrupt and full of chaos. When opposition solely exist to degrade all that is introduced by the ruling party and hardly ever works together to co-operate and bring in actual development, we realise how democracy lags behind making strong decisions. And ofcourse there is the need to please every community when a reform is introduced. Indian diversity is beautiful and rich with culture but its fading as people fight over religion, caste and what not. Every indian should keep their religion apart and identify as patriots first. Then actually work together to bring in change. Seems like a daydream, though.

Man you have just encapsulated and captured my emotions and assessments after 4th June. I have been slightly disillusioned as well even though Mr Modi has come back for a third term. But I can easily see that this jubilation is transient because we are just one Election result away from blowing up our economy as the opposition in India can quite effortlessly lead us down a spiral into a dark future. The examples cited of Argentina, Brazil and South Africa in your video are quite apt but you missed out on the example of Venezuela. Its downfall can easily be mimicked by India as the ingredients that were present in Venezuela are also present in our country. The Maduro regime and Hugo Chavez in Venezuela explicitly stated that they will not enact socialism, but once in power did the exact opposite that led to V's current situation where there is mass starvation, poverty and inflation even after it being a high oil rich country. Just a glance through the opposition's(particularly the INC) manifesto is enough to scare the living daylights out of any sensible being interested in economic affairs. Their only USP is to divide the Hindu vote to carry out their massive social engineering and bring about their communist utopia. What pains me is that the Janta clearly hasn't learnt any of the 40 years of Nehruvian Socialist Sh*thole phase of this country where everyone of our peers like Korea, China, Singapore etc raced ahead to become rich while we were stuck redistributing poverty.

The only reason India even exists as a nation state is because a British corporation was able to play various elements within the subcontinent against each other for just over a century and for less than a century, it was governed by the British Crown itself. It was, ironically enough, British Indophiles who imagined a future India, as being the one state that it currently is. Had Pakistan not existed, there is a good chance the entire experiment called the Indian Republic would have torn itself apart within a 30 yr period maximum - because there would be no enemy to keep the patriot juices going. This is also why India is centrally governed - because New Delhi is rightly paranoid of a federal republic where states get a bit too "free" to do their own thing.

From wiki: “From the 1st century CE to the start of British colonization in India in the 17th century, India's GDP varied between 25% and 35% of the world's total GDP,[13] more than all of Europe combined.[6] It dropped to 2% by the time Britain departed India in 1947.[14]“ I don’t think it would be too much of a leap to assume that India was also highly diverse during the era when it produced nearly a 3rd of the world’s GDP. The west robbed one of the most consistently wealthy regions of the world, then had the nerve to tell it (IMF) how to become rich again. Amazing.

I will strongly degree with what was said in the video. The greatest problem lies in hindu society not having any strong connection with thier sastras and orginal knowledge system which is casing too much confusion and fake historical narrative with drive so called caste system narrative plus hindu society itself only remaining in name but inside they are nastik. Remember the time bharat was prosperous was always under rulers who followed and ruled by dharm.

I aggree on almost all points Except the point about Defence Reforms. The main Problem with defence forces is not a Qualitative issue, rather an issue of Modernisation which is very Sluggish due to all the red tape involved in procurement processes. Take for example the MRFA Tender, where they couldnt even decide on a Fighter playform in 21 years. This leads to Governments sanctioning emergency procurements which is just a simple way of legalising acts of Corruption, Like the General staff decides to procure a Foreign gun platform when comparable Platforms are available at home. Secondly, I dont think that Indian Military per se is having a bad time, we have seen far worse times in 90s and 80s. And Recent Examples such as Ukraine Teaches us that No matter how Advanced Technology you have, warfare always takes toll on manpower. So you need well trained forces in big no. ESPECIALLY If you aim to defend against China. And Agnipath messes that up entirely. You have a slashed manpower with way less training and exposure and are NOT REGGIMENTED(The scheme puts an end to Regimentation). Regiment system has worked very well in the past, no indication that it wont any further. If something isnt broken, dont fix it. But slashing down manpower can prove to be an enormous blunder. TOS may work for smaller countries with low population like Israel but not India. In Recent Jammu attacks , the Security lapse happened because the Units were streched too thin to provide any any necessary coverage and are still struggling with low troop strength. The need of the hour is a well trained Bureaucracy that understands Defence and a strong Defence Minister who can stare the Generals into taking indegenous options.

One of India's long-standing advantages is its food production and our lack of reliance on food supply from other countries - whether through labour or direct imports. Despite this, India's food security is still not that great. And as far as India's arable land goes, are you suggesting utilising that for industrial sector undertakings?
