Don’t know much about cruise liners but I used to build yachts and what was cool was we would build the Hulls upside down, flip them over, and then continue from there on 🙂

How to build a ocean liner back in 1910: 1. Lay down the keel 2. Start with the structure and beams takes 1-2 years 3. Add the plates on the side of the ship 4. Then launch the ship 5. Fit out rhe ship with decorations which takes a year

The shots inside are also Meyer Werft Papenburg. Once they are assembled they are towed down the river Ems towards the Dutch port of Eemshaven where the ship is outfitted and from there they do sea / acceptance trials as well.

The biggest ships can take a total of five or more to design and build from conception to when they enter service which also includes testing while ships can also have their interiors constructed after they are launched! :)

Simpler way to explain: keel laid down (bottom most part of the hull), hull structure built, superstructure built, fitted with furniture and other luxuries long with the controls at the bridge. The building process is harder to do but this was to explain it in easy terms

I miss the good ol' days when they were made from iron and steel... Yeah sure, they were not all perfectly safe. But look at the Costa Concordia. She was made this exact way and she ended up sinking. I think iron and steel ships are stronger then the modern day ones.

The quality of steel these ships are made from is far better than the ocean liners' steel from the early 1900's. Any ship will capsize when you run it aground on some rocks near the coast.

Iron is worse than steel for shipbuilding, as is more fragile. Also, probably an older ship would have sunk the same way as costa Concordia did (the later being made of a better steel)

Not really a good comparison because a house has a much smaller crew and has to be built step by step from the ground up but a ship can have multiple steps done at once from multiple large crews
