This video should really have a short description of what's happening in each segment.

I have been working in this type of paint shops, and having 14 years of experience. Love to see those robots are well programmed.

How often do they have to milk those udders on the spray heads?

I wonder if the paint is extra warm and if that helps avoid orange peel because it's slightly more runny.

The painting process is more like airspray painiting.They use atomising air and fan air to avoid any orange peel effect or running effect.On top of it the paint is electrostatically charged to the carbody as ground.So more like electrons attracted to ground technology.Its very rare that having paint overflowing. The paint software has presets ( cc/minute, atomising air, fan air, electrostatic charge intensity) with each body style and each color.That ensure uniformity in carbody pain process.

I wondered how factories polish the paint. It appears there are large wool buffing rollers which polish the primer coat, probably with abrasive compounds. They didn't show any polishing after the basecoat-clearcoat. Does it come out that smooth and shiny just from spraying? It shows inspection cameras with uV light. How do they mark imperfections for techs to repair? Is the info stored electronically and the locations displayed to techs as marks on a computer image?

more than 90% of the factories do not polish their cars when they paint them with robots they leave their orange peel texture since the amount of clear is very tin

This question is EXACTLY why I came to this video, LOL! It's so hard finding a detailed video on this topic, especially about polishing (if any). I'd love to sit down and watch a half hour vid going over all the little nitty gritty details.

@@richardvalentin584 It's not just about the orange peel, though. Most new cars LOOK like there was some polishing that took place due to how glassy the factory finish is. It's a question of whether are not the sprayers are that good, that they don't have to do that extra polishing step. There's no good videos on KZfaq going into detail about this topic, and it's made worse since KZfaq destroyed their search engine .

From the video, after submerged the body into the precoat tank. It is rinse with jet spray water. Then passed thru some ostrich furs to remove any dust or particles before painting.

The paint area would have to be the worst area for the Oompa Lumpas to be working… that smell would be horrible

Probably. Cancer for sure. I guess people who have absolutely 0 desire to live past 50 request to work there and get paid shit ton of money

Wondering if there is any humans polishing paint
@Tomas.X Жыл бұрын
For all intents and purposes, it's unnecessary because the sprayers used on factory lines are extremely expensive, and more capable than any human. Everything is applied in an extremely controlled and even manner in the form of a mist no professional can emulate. And when quality clear coat is laid down perfectly, it settles evenly and creates a mirror finish. Low production exotics often (usually) don't have their paint applied by such systems, which is why - kid you not - the paint on a Kia is likely better than a Ferrari...and certainly a McLaren. These imperfections keep detailers doing paint corrections employed (it's expensive, requiring clear coat depth measurements as you go.)

You don't know how a production line works! Paint a car it's not like a production line. The paint shop environment it’s a special place. Every single car or truck has to be polisher after top coat paint.
@williamgrissom9022 Жыл бұрын
@@Tomas.X The spray is also electrically charged, so the very fine droplets are quickly drawn to the car body. In a normal shop sprayer such fine drops that far away would dry before hitting the body to give problematic dry-spray, and with much loss to overspray.
