The most important thing that should be on everyone mind currently should be to invest in different sources of income that doesn't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the word. This is still a good time to invest in various stocks, Gold, silver and digital currencies.

I'm very privileged to have been able to move to Australia. I'm 24 yo now and while I'm by no means a rich person myself (I couldn't even dream of affording a rental on my lonesome) I'm very thankful to be here in Australia instead instead of South Africa which I haven't even visited since moving. I don't know about that. You sound like my grandma. What happens in the future you see your grandchild not wanting to get a job and thinks about going back to Vietnam for cultural identity as they don't like Australian multiculturalism as your suburb is dominated by a particular ethnic group. So they're made to feel as if they don't belong You know what my understanding of Australia is? It's a gene pool to practice eugenics and try get more people mixing, interbreeding to create hybrid races. Because I looked at this country from an outside perspective at one stage when I ran away to China in hopes to create a better life than in Australia. It ended with going to a detention centre. The story of my life. It was because everything was made in China.

@@bradley7454 people only go back to vietnam when they dont need money or have enough money. They just want happiness, they just want the final chapter without worry and stress of bills etc because most homes in vietnam are paid off by family so theres no worry about bills, money problems. Life over there is cheap and u have everything at your doorstep. U can literally live off 300-500aud a month whereas thats the amount youl pay rent for a week. We should be grateful we arent living in worn torn nations. We have great liver work balance, wages are high. The medical system aint the best but try asia or america and ul see how lucky we are.

@@s2heaRTSs2 I'm not sure. I lived in Beijing and their subway transportation system was the reason I didn't want to come back. You'd cross the city in 10 minutes or so. Then in Australia I'm waiting half hour for a bus. If you can live off 500 a month in Vietnam as compared to a week's rent you have to calculate everything into percentages. The people in Vietnam obviously earn less than someone in Australia but the percentages tells you who's living better off. In Australia I buy farmed sardines from Vietnam. Why isn't Australia fish farming sardines? So I'm actually supporting Vietnamese sardine workers by being a consumer. Vietnamese have a job from me buying those sardine tins to put on my toast

@@s2heaRTSs2 I dislike how immigrants can come to Australia, they make a large family and the father starts a business. They only employ their children and relatives. So the person who is born in the country can't get a job. For example, Indian people will bring the whole extended family over. Then the Asians like Chinese are advertising for a job. I beg to differ. Overall the standard of living for most of us Australians is very high. The mining sector in Western Australia for example pays high wages, especially to those in the trades. The royalties paid by mining companies to state governments reduces the need to tax individuals at a higher level. All the infrastructure and other developments created by these companies create large amounts of employment with high wages. So the wealth being created is definitely being shared and improves the standards of living of Australia. The companies who create these enterprises bear the risk. I have no problem with them making healthy profits. I would also point out that for most Australian’s their superannuation fund balances represent a significant proportion of their personal wealth. A lot of funds hold investments in the resources sector. So when the publicly listed resource companies grow and make profits, that is shared by all those Australians whose super funds have invested in them.

Yep, and the fact that people on the east coast are having to pay export prices for the natural gas that belongs to all Australians exemplifies this point. Foreign corporations are setting the price because none of the gas was reserved for use by Australians. WA set local reservation levels on their gas, so they're not being screwed as badly by the corporations.

Hence maintenance of existing facilities & construction of new ones are more likely to be made with consideration to profit & loss reports & shareholders returns not the betterment of the public as was the case previously. Govs of both persuasions were guilty of this & today it's us that pays the price. I am very thankful to live in this beautiful country. Moved here at the age of 9, grew up in a poor country to working class parents. I had the privilege of higher education and the opportunity to live a high-quality life. While there is overpopulation around the world I am blessed to be in an underpopulated nation with clean water and fresh air 🙏

I don't understand the reference to 'lay judges' in the Anglo-Saxon model, compared with the "professional judges" in the European model. All judges in Australia have completed law degrees, and those in the higher courts have many years of experience in practising, either in law firms or at the bar. They can hardly be described as 'lay'.
@donttalkcrap

Yeah, I agree. I dispute this reference. They are NOT lay judges. +The Geography Bible needs to explain this.
@tubester4567

I think he means Aust judges are employed from working lawyers so anybody of any class or background can be a judge. Some countries have a special institution that educates judges to just be judges, and its elitist and very hard for the average person to be accepted.

Thank you for a mini documentary that rings true to this Aussie. I've seen some bad ones that preference jokes over much actual information. As far as agile economies go, personally I'd much rather have the regulatory protections of the EU, especially where it comes to food safety and internet rules. Our primary food produce is very good, but we allow 4000 food additives in our processed food banned in the EU. I'm not happy about that. At the moment, AFAIK, it is the Air BnB investment sector driving up the property prices the most. It used to be foreigners and investment/retirement trusts buying housing as part of their balanced portfolios, and leaving it empty so that there is no wear and tear from tenants depreciating the price of the property. However the government put a modest tax on empty properties which curbed that market somewhat. Family reunion migration is a large portion of immigration, as well as skilled sector migration. Australia took in a large (proportional to our then population) amount of European and eastern Mediterranean and Jewish refugees after WW1, and up to 25k Vietnamese refugees arrived by boat every year for many years during and after the Vietnam war, even during the 1980s. Our thriving food, coffee and cafe culture was very much built by refugees and their many family members who migrated to be with them in their train.

For me the literal only downside to being Aussie is our distance from other continents. I love when I go to Europe I can drive 45 minutes and be in one of 3 countries on the border that have different languages and cultures and history. In Australia you drive 45 minutes and you haven't left the driveway so we can be pretty insulated and ignorant as a result but we're curious and friendly and love to travel and embrace the different cultures that come here which counters that pretty beautifully imo

Our physical isolation is probably the main thing that’s protected us from invasion over the last hundred years. Our navy is only really equipped to defend a single city in the event of invasion, so it’s lucky we’re less likely to have to contend with that. Also makes things like illegal drug, gun and human trafficking much much harder because there are no land borders to sneak across. I think Australia will be one of the safest countries to be in the coming uncertain years. Much less risk of invasion than European or Asian countries and much less civil unrest than the US.

As an immigrant of nearly 50 years, I can tell you all of the above is true. What he didn't say is that because of all those things, people here are more upbeat, youngsters look to the future brimming with confidence. Who doesn't feel good on a warm, bright sunny day, with a job and money in your pocket? Bearing in mind those days are 9/10 months of the year.

Australia is really a great and beautiful country respected, loved and admired by people around the world. Its democratic political system and faire social system have fostered its economy prosperity enjoyed by Australian citizens and residents. Certainly there is no perfect thing in the world and Australia is no exception, but Australia never stops its progress towards better life and better future. No matter where you are from, once living in Australia you would love it and wish the best for it.

@@ChasingDragons420 There are differing views within Indigenous Australians, obviously but most don’t hold this view, most feel Aus is racist toward them. It’s certainly no comparison to the apartheid SA I left- a crime against humanity until 1993-as you held equal rights , ( although discriminated against) . We left when I was a child at the height of apartheid -1980’s- as my Mum couldn’t live with Apartheid. However the history is terrible and Australia did not teach the true black and genocidal history to our students. It practiced a ‘ cult of forgetting’ and the lack of treaty is a disgrace. Other colonised commonwealth nations have treaties with their First peoples including self governance, ownership of minerals, self determination etc. It’s going through a big overhaul now , finally. Sovereignty is what most FN people desire; it’s just how we get to it that differs.
