Every day, my classmates (mostly the girls ) were trying to intercept me on my way to school to get my notebook and copy the homework. The Math teacher (who happened to be the school leader/director as well) regularly sent me to other classrooms to perform Math exercises for those students. If a teacher was missing or running late, all that time was used for Math training and I was the performer in front, at the board. What did I get in exchange? I got some sort of "soft power". I was never bullied. Neither did my close friends, no matter how weird they were.

You can be the most confident guy in the world, but if you're quiet, shy, reserved, humble, etc, she won't SEE YOU that way. There has to be external presentation of that confidence, which is typically cockiness, for her to put that as one of the top 5 characteristics she associates with you before you are already in the friend zone. If you're not peacocking your confidence, it may as well not exist to her until it's too late.

The standards I do have, I make sure to be absolute about them, as if I’m a yellow eyed sith.
