Communication, cooperation, friendship, and understanding -- these are the key words at the 2024 Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp.
Nearly 90 teenagers from 17 cities in 16 countries are in Shanghai for a two-week summer program as part of this year’s camp.
Since arriving on July 3, the teens have visited several landmarks including Yuyuan Garden, the Bund, and Oriental Pearl TV Tower. To experience the Shanghainese way of life, they stayed with local families. They also learned about tie dyeing, tea ceremonies, martial arts, hanfu and lantern making.
The Shanghai Education Commission launched the camp, which has become an important window for young students from other countries to learn about Shanghai and China. Nearly 1,500 foreign students and teachers have visited the city since the youth camp was first held in 2009.
