Whether we’re talking about softly lit alleys or awe-inspiring, sunbathed forests, there’s no denying that lighting is one of the most important cinematic elements that can make or break a video game’s immersion.
Although a natural, unaltered sunset scene does a fantastic job at pulling at our heartstrings, the modern luxuries of multi-light set-ups and the more recent real-time rendering engines used to create some of our favorite video games have allowed us to discover new ways of using light for splendid storytelling.
In this video, we’re going to explore how the games we love have pushed the boundaries of creativity and use light to create immersive worlds, draw emotion, and even create unique game mechanics that might surprise you.

Funny how the emotions for blue and red get swapped halfway through... 3:13 "Warm light can feel relaxing, while cool light usually makes us feel more alert and ready for the next battle" 4:18 "Red light increases alertness and blue light increases a relaxed ambiance"

Red is one of those colors that vary greatly depending on how it’s used. Green as well (both contrast, strangely enough). They mean so many contrasting things, and usually blue (in opposition to red) means whatever is the opposite of red is at the moment. Hence, it’s quite the boring color since it doesn’t mean anything nearly as much as the purposes and meaning behinds colors like red, green, yellow…even pink (since it’s a tint of red).

Yeah, they bring different emotions depending on your environment, if your outside then the blue must be the reflection from the sky, but while in a cave or indoors it’s scary. cold equals shivering, and shivering also happens when scared. Your body is kinda dumb fr, that’s why acting happy can make people happy, we just a bunch of simpletons.

The most important thing to do as a gamer, as stated, is to “stop”. Man, I really enjoy playing games with what I like to call “Tourist Mentallity”. Just take your time to appreciate the beautifully crafted landscapes, there is no need to rush the game experience.
