Hi Matt, great podcast and really interesting topic on finance. Even if you had the money to buy outright, would you still recommend to part deposit and part finance. Obviously interest rates have a big factor but probably best not to tie all your money into a purchase. Just wondered what is usually the route people go down when buying a camper / Motorhome. I am looking to buy my first campervan (new) and in the fortunate position of being able to buy outright so weighing up options, particularly if looking to sell after a few years. Interested in your opinion. Thanks

The ‘norm’ probably varies around the country but for me I would always have an element of the asset on finance. But I might be different to most! I do this as it gives me some protection if there’s a problem that needs sorting and I don’t like to have my own money tied up in a depreciating asset. I would get some quotes and see what the overhead would be over time. Keep to a regulated agreement meaning you can end it without huge interest costs. In our own businesses finance penetration is very low with around a 10% or less take up for finance. Most buyers have the cash available or a part exchange already paid for. Finance companies do like Motorhomes as they are a low risk asset doing low miles with a slow depreciation curve so a high residual value. Hope this helps?
