Same. 4 Mana 6/8 with taunt made me laugh

The most insane part is that this Yu-Gi-Oh game play is *after* the developers outright admitted "Uhhh the power level of the game sharply increased after a standard rotation which is probably bad, so we're going to nerf EVERYTHING". Some of the decks are still around but at the start of the expansion we had Handbuff Paladin that would play 18/14 charge minions with windfury, Warlock was prevalent with a card that read "Win the game in four turns" that usually came with a 0 mana 15/15 with taunt and lifesteal and three mana 15/15's with rush, Priest was insane because of a 5 mana 5/5 that gave you an extra turn (that was really easy to activate) that would almost always win the game because you could just flood the board with 0 mana 4/6's or 8/8's on the same turn, Shaman would regularly nuke you for 40 damage from hand on turn 5, I legitimately could go on and on. It was actually embarrassing.

Looks awful because the average game duration lasts twice as long and the turn times take forever. YuGiOh is way too much in pretty much every aspect you can judge it on, but at least there's only a couple long ass turns instead of twenty.

@@Nilso2it’s technically 6 mana because he had to forge it for 2 additional mana in order to remove the negative aspect of the card. (Discarding 2 cards or destroying one of your mana crystals).

Chillwind Yeti was there since the beginning. So yeah, it did have some power creep since the beginning. Weird thing to comment about.

It's not meant to be funny, it's just a more thought provoking way to structure the sentence than just saying "there has been a lot of power creep in this game". That's what @8bit_pineapple is actually saying, and if your "I have to shit on this person" filter didn't kick in immediately, you would have understood that.. Chillwind Yeti is a nostalgic card and when you think about its stats compared to "modern" cards, the power creep becomes so very palpable. You either just don't understand english idioms, or are having too much of a bad day and a habit for taking it out on others. Either way, F- comment on your part brah.

It's yugiohs Black hole way back in the day where every single deck had it. It was so bad they made a card called "white hole" to specifically counter that one singular card.

Except Control Priest and Warrior are very good right now.

@@ryankendall3716 I literally came back and had some fun with highlander priest right before the reno change and I was straight BAFFLED because literally the only things that felt bad about the card was 1) not drawing it on curve or 2) getting my deck stuffed, and otherwise it felt like a god-tier card with no downsides in the deck, even at 9 mana.

At diamond or higher you get recked before turn 9 or you are about to lose directly from the opponents hand most of the time. According to winrate stats its not even a top 20 card in the game. I understand that at a glance and with no understanding of the current meta the card looks broken. I was very frustrated facing Reno before the nerf came in recently because I came back to hearthstone and did not understand that the game had changed so much. It was about not fighting for board control anymore or even barely interacting with your opponent except for trying to steal vital combo cards.

Deal 8 and deal 25 to a minion are basically the same thing

It sure was back in the day when the highest health of a minion was 12. Nowadays the difference between 8 and 25 is like night and day.

Multiplayer you never stop re-learning. Thats why its still so competitive. Its not stupid just not your cup of tea.

one thing about the multiplayer that's tough to reconcile with singleplayer modes is that anything is possible in singleplayer, as long as it doesn't break the game, just so the player can have fun multiplayer everything has to be perfectly balanced between the factions, which means constant balancing, measures and countermeasures, leading to the game completely changing its form, it would be unplayable otherwise

Yeah, there were some true Platinum rank plays like sinking 3 damage into 0/1 taunt to deal 1 damage with hero power or sensind Reska into 2/8 minion and being surprised that it didn't die :D

He keeps winning because his opponents are making even more retarded plays than he is, which is saying something. HS match making algorithm has him on the bottom.

The only thing I time I don't like it is if I'm going against something like death knight or warlock because I don't expect it, since I don't use a deck tracker and there aren't any other payoff cards they could play before to indicate they have reno.

Usually I feel like you don't really win by playing Reno as everything clears the board or makes one, that 1 turn tempo loss only really matters if you already behind. Most of the power comes from the class cards with the Reno package and Reno just ends up being a control card that's powerful but not game winning every time

@@widepeepohappy820part of the strength of Reno is worrying about overplaying into it. If you go in on the board and they play it, you probably lose. If you don’t go in and they can hold it until they need it, you probably lose as well. Especially if they get to play a double boom boss, since no matter how many cards are in your deck, you always hit at least 2 bombs immediately.

That was the real shit. Though I have to say Heart of the Swarm was probably my fav meta in ranked.

People are allowed to like bad things. That however does not mean they are not bad. I love low budget B movie horrors and I will defend them to some degree, but I know they are bad. Awareness beat ignorance.

Hearthstone defaults to 30fps unless you put the graphics setting to high iirc. Don't know if he actually did that, though.

Plague Death Knight was a mid-ladder menace at its peak. It wasn't run at lop legend at all, even though every deck ran Reno because DK is so awful that even with Reno immunity it'd still get run over by any half-decent tier 1 or 2 deck.

@@MinoriGaming Except I didn't say "won all games". I said every second game was against them. And it was. It was so bad that it revived steamcleaner, a card that nobody played before that. Plagueknight mit not be A tier, but it is the single reason why none of the highlander cards (except maybe warrior) saw real play. in that "no cure for plague" meta.

Reno has never had a hard counter, in any meta… Reno warrior was the most played deck despite DK doing that. Warrior still went even into DK, or better.

I honestly don't even mind that being a thing. Magic the gathering has cards that cross boundaries like Dash hopes being a black counter. What bugs me is how effortless it is to do so in HS. Even 3 mana cards have an insane amount of value and impact a single card has.

I strongly disagree. Class identities are still well-defined and distinct. The core philosophy behind which classes get to do what hasn't changed, it's just adjusted to a higher more combo-centric power level.

@mgs85 I'm not going through all 11 classes, but here's a couple: Demon Hunter: Major themes of card draw, Lifesteal, Rush, Fel, granting your hero temporary attack and synergies with hero attacking. Minor themes of symmetrical AoE, demon synergy, summoning tokens with Rush. Weaknesses: Weak board clears, weak individual cards, relatively low card generation. Druid: Major themes of mana manipulation, giant minions, token spamming, board-wide buffs. Minor themes of Spell Damage, Taunt, Beast synergies, temporary hero attack. Healing and armor flip-flop between major and minor depending on the expansion. Weaknesses: Weak board clears, slow setup. Rogue: Major themes of cheap cards, mana cheating, Stealth, weapon buffs, hand manipulation, copy cards from other classes, bounce, spamming cards. Minor themes of Rush, Pirate synergies, small minions, Deathrattle. Weaknesses: Limited healing, no board clears, weak individual cards. And so on.

@@murlocaggrob2192 Noticed you didn't do Warlock and DH. What are the differences between them? Because they sound identical and your information sounds way out of date. I mean, weak board clears? From DH? Did you just not play when Shopper was running the meta? Your Druid and Rogue write up sounds like every other class. Are you this out of date or do you just not play the game these days? You didn't even utilize their unique mechanic 'Choose One.' Don't blame you, they don't rely on it at all right now either. Druid decks are centered around their hero power. Every class mana cheats or manipulates now. Every class drops huge minions, and Warlock is currently doing it the best, followed by DK. Multiple classes have stealth cards in play, Rogue doesn't particularly utilize stealth. Every class utilizes board wide and deck wide buffs now (DK, Shaman and Paladin most notably). Rogue doesn't use pirates for a while now, I haven't seen a meta Rogue deck themed around pirates in such a long time. No one has a slow set up anymore, in fact, outside of Sif Mage, there is no set up. And saying 'and so on' at the end made me die laughing. I think if you actually take a good long look at the meta decks for the last few years you'll see what people are talking about. Or at least get up to date on what HS is like. The class identities are all blended and you'll find examples from 2 or 3 other classes doing what would be unique to one.

One moment he's like "TWO 8/8s for 8 mana? How do I handle this!?" The next he's like "wait... I CAN handle this!?"

Strategy isn’t really a thing in modern HS, you don’t even need to play particularly well to do well in it. RenoDK has a plethora of ways to win vs just about any deck. That’s what having 20+ overpowered cards in your deck will do to a card game.
