Why is no one calling for the closure of media outlets in the west that misinform. Repeat Israeli reports without any attempt to verify its validity. Outlets that call peaceful demonstrations calling for the end of the violence as supporting Hamas. They continually stir hatred against Muslims so much so we have the word Islamophobia. Why if Israel is so pro truth are they not calling for the misinformation that supports them to be banned? Hell the Israeli's seem to think the world only came into existence on the 7th of Oct as they refuse to talk about what led up to this.

I watch Al Jazeera English quite often and have done for the last couple of years. The quality of journalism is as good as any western source and often better. In all the reports I've seen I can honestly say that there has only been ONE occasion when the language has been a little edgy - and that was following the death of their Gaza bureau chief, Wael Dahdouh's entire family in an Israeli air strike.

I work in Riyadh and for the longest time Al Jazeera was blocked by the state. So glad to say we have access to it now. Occasionally I flick over to the BBC and it really is not the same, BBC lacks the great detail that Al Jazeera puts in.

I have been following Al Jazeera's portrayal of the conflict and in a recent comment on an Al Jazeera in-depth report said: "THANK YOU and SHUKRAN" for the quality of the information and the lvel of the debate on the channel. Make no mistake, I do not possess the herd instinct. I absorb the information presented, mull it over, reflect and question and when all the rational steps have been followed I make no bones about my conclusion and am not prone to retracting it when it suits me or my interlocutor. Unsurprised, to be honest. And I fear we're kidding ourselves if we think the USA hasn't been exerting the same influence over the UK media with stories such as that of Julian Assange. As Michael said, channels like Al Jazeera (and I'd add RT), however biased they may be, are important counterweights when all mainstream UK news sources seem to be singing from US vetted and approved song-sheets.

Al Jazeera has my respect for their coverage of Palestine and them outing one nations party from Australia's meeting with NRA to offering to help the NRA weaking aussie gun laws for funding. They are journalists and Israel shouldn't be allowed to silence another nation's press.

It's worth remembering during the 2nd gulf war the x general Collin Powell went to Qatar and asked the same thing not to report the conflict accurately and he was told publicly isn't u promoting freedom of the press? and they refused, so the pressure is mounting and would not be surprised if they try to silence this esteemed channel.

Why do you feel the need to mention the October 7th Hamas actions and even calle it atrocious, when it was preceded by 56 years of much worse actions by Israel and now literally a genocide by Israel of 2 million Palestinians… ? Still, I would argue and with common sense that no less than 80% of those killed by Hamas on that day were military personnel and the remaining 20% either picked up the guns they had in their homes and fought back and therefore were killed in a fire fight or most likely were killed by Israeli soldiers during the battle against Hamas militants…which was confirmed by many Israeli survivors of the ordeal. Well , the rest of the lies as we all know we’re debunked..like babies beheaded or burnt even though some keep repeating the lies.

On your 80%/20% statistics comment, I do not condone Hamas' violence on Oct 7th or Netanyahu's ongoing extremism or his current campaign of violence against Palestine. However, I consider your comment about 80% of the killed Israelis on Oct 7th being Israeli IDF force members as ridiculous. In fact, it is clear that targeted settlers and music festival goers were absolutely on their own test day. The IDF had clearly moved most of their military resources from Southern Israel to deal with an imagined West Bank crisis. Hamas was even able to overrun the solitary remaining IDF post, and a police station in their path.

Terrorist, Extremist, Insurgent, Militant and Savage are ambiguous and dehumanizing terms applied to an opponent in lieu of seriously engaging in constructive dialogue. Using these terms is insincere, unproductive, manipulative and deceitful.

It's good that you are covering the attack on Al Jazeera. As many have said, despite it's bias (something shared by most media outlets, including Novara media), Al Jazeera offers the only real counter weight to a) mainstream media bias during major conflict, and b) mainstream media indifference to continued low level conflict over the past few years. Aren't we always advised by mainstream media (I include Al Jazeera here) to look at different media sources to gain a greater sense of nuance? I dislike the Telegraph but am an avid follower of its KZfaq channel on the Ukraine war.
