The paper is waterproof, but wetting it makes it more shapeable, not because the paper itself is wet, but because the water allows it to stick to the container, an interesting distinction

@@johnscott2849 So, because ... if you want the argument to be about "It should be called..." waterPROOF vs waterRESISTANT, the definitions of those two terms are indefinite. - EVERYTHING dissolves in water. EVERYthing. - NOTHING is water PROOF. - EVERYTHING is water RESISTANT The only variable is time. Your statement above "Water does not damage the paper so you call it water proof" requires definitions of the terms within itself. What kind of "damage"? How long before the damage manifests? Water on computer printer paper doesn't bother the paper for a few seconds or minutes. Recycled paper shop towels can remain undamaged for minutes/hours/days/months when exposed to water. I'm pretty sure parchment paper would show "damage" after a few hours in water. Water on ANY substrate will ALWAYS show a molecular/atomic CHANGE in the material. "Damage" is a subjective term. In terms of use, paper/wood/textiles function at an optimum moisture level. ie paper has to have "enough" water or it's function as whatever kind of paper is diminished. See how that all works? We have to be careful with descriptions because there's a pretty good chance that NOBODY else agrees on the same description. Science rules..:-)

Biodegradable silicon Silicone is a synthetic polymer made from silicon and oxygen atoms, often used in various applications such as cookware, medical devices, and personal care products. While silicone is known for its durability and versatility, it is not biodegradable. In fact, silicone is not biodegradable at all. Why is Silicone Not Biodegradable? Silicone is made from a combination of silicon and oxygen atoms, which are bonded together in a strong and stable structure. This structure makes it difficult for microorganisms to break down the silicone molecules, rendering it non-biodegradable. Additionally, silicone is often used in products that are designed to be long-lasting and durable, which means that it is not intended to degrade or break down over time. What About Biodegradable Silicone? There is no such thing as biodegradable silicone. Silicone is not biodegradable, and it does not break down into smaller components that can be easily decomposed by microorganisms. While some manufacturers may claim that their silicone products are biodegradable, this is likely a marketing claim rather than a scientific fact. Alternatives to Silicone If you are looking for biodegradable alternatives to silicone, there are several options available. For example, you can use beeswax wraps or glass containers for food storage, or opt for stainless steel or bamboo utensils. These alternatives are not only biodegradable but also sustainable and environmentally friendly. Conclusion In conclusion, silicone is not biodegradable and does not break down into smaller components that can be easily decomposed by microorganisms. While there are biodegradable alternatives available, silicone is a durable and versatile material that is often used in various applications

The plastic one on that brand sucks. But anywho, the thin metal ones though are covered in glue to stick to the box and still covered when you peel them off. Just go ahead and peel one off and ask that again while your holding the sticky curled strip of sharp metal and wonder about the feasibility of it. You do break down your recycling right?
@SianaGearz
@SianaGearz 2 жыл бұрын
I actually think steel edge is more environmentally sound and works better. Also i don't think silicone bonded paper is recyclable, and if they can separate some of the wood pulp from it, they still have a mass of silicone to deal with, which can be burned in a reactor but in most regions will probably just get landfillled, which is not ideal.
@SianaGearz
@SianaGearz 2 жыл бұрын
@@dmcgee3 you can throw these cutting edges and staples and other such things directly into paper recycling, you don't have to separate them out. They actually shred everything and then separate out steel bits with a magnet, and they will be recycled. Anyway if a little bit of steel lands in a landfill, that's not a concern really, it will just turn to rust which is naturally very abundant in the soil, no problem at all. And it's not like we're about to run out of iron.

Well you shouldn't throw plastic into paper recycling, as the success in separating it from wood pulp can be somewhat mixed, and then if they do separate it out, there's nothing they could possibly do with it. But they will separate out steel bits like staples or that cutting edge with a magnet and recycle them. This series contains good footage but is usually riddled with terrible writing mistakes. The parchment paper itself isn't recyclable either. I think they substituted the cutting edge with a plastic one for cost, or in a hope that it wears down quicker and you throw out the whole box of paper to get a new one. It's not an environmentally friendly business at all.

Good to not just avoid wine, but also avoid parchment paper, fruits, vegetables, and anything else made by man. Only the beef of the cow should be eaten because it is pure and clean and supports the full circle of life when consumed. Leave the plants for the animals because humans make their own glucose from fat and protein in beef and this was the design of our Creator to show us how to be good stewards of the planet and not cut down trees taking homes from birds, nor using pesticides and killing insects and fungi.

Now I now why parchment paper for cooking is rather pricey. It goes though quite a few processes and stages before it's finished. I hardly ever use parchment paper. I have one roll I've had for years and cant even remember when I bought it. I think I've used a small amount of it maybe twice ever. I don't mind greasing a pan. It's cheaper and less wasteful to do than using sheets of pricey parchment paper.

Don’t think you can recycle the paper when it is impregnated with silicone, but at a least the paper would disintegrate with relatively less damage to the environment. yes less harmful I/o harm free

The silicon it's sprayed with resists heat up to 1500 degrees, and one of the two dips they showed made it heat resistant too.
