Not all kayaks are created equal, and this week we find out what it takes to make some of the highest performance kayaks in the world! Sterlings Kayaks are designed and built in Bellingham WA, with Sterlings and his team of incredible craftsmen. The attention to detail and uncompromising attitude when it comes to materials and construction makes these some of the most sought after kayaks in the world. We were honored to get a tour behind the scenes to see the process and learn a little more about the man behind the brand.

Nice work as usual, Dan. I hadn't heard of Sterlings until I paddled with a woman recently who has one... turns out she lives about half a mile down the street from me. She paddles an Ice Kap, but they seem to make a few different nice boats. I had wondered why their skegs were so close to the middle of the boat, but his explanation makes sense.

These boats are insane. I looked on their site before you mentioned the "Ferrari of Kayaks" .. and sure as heck are priced up there, but they're beautiful.

I met Sterling on a few occasions and paddled his personal boat at one of our local kayak meets. It's so true these are the Ferraris of kayaks. Even paddling his boat which was set up for him still was better than any other boat. I too am ruined for all other kayaks and I hope to own one of his boats someday. I've driven by his shop countless times but still haven't stopped in as I'm afraid I might buy a boat. Someday I will.

Xtraordinary get something with pedals if you plan on fishing. I upgraded my son from SS107 to a 2020 Outback. He is much happier fishing.

hello Uncle I Want To Have A Kayak Boat But I Don't Have To Buy A Kayak Because I'm Still Studying And Then I'm Just Looking For My Tuition To Pay For. At school Because My Family Is Poor Then Our House Is Just Near The Sea I Fished Using Only The Handline On The Side Only The Side I Really Want To Have A Kayak So I Can Go Deep For More Dish. $1220 more expensive than the NDK Romany/explorer standard layup and nordkaap. Still more expensive than the Skim Kayak made in Germany. Does this man have a kayak model call the grand delusion?
