My Dad and I got stuck on Splash mountain and got stuck right before the big drop and so they did an evacuation. Of course they gave us both exit entrances for any two rides. So we would go through the exit and and they would ask for a card. When they asked for it back we were like nope, the cast members said to keep it all day! And so we did and continued to ride everything without waiting in line for anything! It Rocked this was about 20 years ago!

The three-piston motion base is capable of much more movement than they currently use it for. After opening, they had to reduce the amount of movement produced by the three-piston motion base, because it was considered too violent for some (translation: Disney was worried about getting sued by people who injured themselves when the vehicle wildly bucked).

In a somewhat similar move, the Ratatouille Ride in Paris was DRASTICALLY (some say by 50%) slowed down just before public opening, they had to scramble to adjust the animation scenes and extend them last minute

Part of what you said is true, the rest is not. I was one of the original 12 Design Engineers who designed, engineered, prototyped and developed this ride system between 1990 - 1993. Of course the motion base can be articulated into more extreme positions and at much higher velocities. While developing it we did a lot of tuning to smooth it out. That's a part of developing any new design. But we worked all that out WAY before (years before) this ride opened to the public. And all businesses that deal with the public are mindful of the possibility of people getting injured and design and engineer their products accordingly. To do anything other than that would be unethical / unprofessional.

24 hours of nostalgic curiosity. 😀 The Lava Bridge was very 🆒, because it reminded me of how hard it is to deal with how serious a lava flow really is as part of the suspense on a dark ride that's based on the Indiana Jones franchise. The reason why I like that scene so much is actually because, I studied about Geology in the 6th Grade for Science at my former middle 🏫. I like Star Tours at Disneyland as we know today. As a kid, I also liked Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Mad Tea Party, It's A Small World, etc. which are dark rides located at Disneyland which is a theme park located in Anaheim, CA.

I miss the rotating doors effect so much, it was so awesome to see them move! Also I have had the rat log effect look decent on a couple of times of riding, but I feel like I have also ridden with that effect turned off completely? But I think the most impressive thing is the motion of the ride itself. Even with knowing how it is the vehicle itself doing the movement and not the track being like that or anything, it still feels so realistic to how a jeep or other off road vehicle would feel and I get so absorbed in the ride experience every time

In all fairness, with trackless rides, they have been able to get multiple paths to work properly, the main issue with trying that with this is that it would take up a bunch of space to get the cars to join up again after the doorway. But, it worked pretty well with Mystic Manor in Hong Kong Disney. They use the same dart effect on that, and it's pretty effective.

I’ve seen the animated diagram for the chamber of destiny at least a hundred times but your model made understanding it so much easier

A while ago, I saw a video of some people being evacuated from the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom, which uses the same kind of ride vehicle (and a suspiciously similar layout). The guy filming pointed out that the floor was covered in something sticky wherever the vehicle went up an incline, to provide extra traction. Presumably, they do that in the temple as well.

Lord. I rode this when it opened. No one had ever experienced such a thing. The snake almost gave my mom a heart attack.

I was unaware that this opened in the 90's which means I got to ride the original version when it was new during my first trip in the 90's.

I was there for the opening week. I got a decoder card that you can decode all the writing on the walls. It is one of my favorite attractions at the park, and go on it at least twice when I’m there.

I didn't know they had a decoder card! We spent our time waiting in line figuring it out. Such a cool detail.

@@Eyes0penNoFear Yea, I guess they figured it would be a long wait (it Was) so this helped. It was the size of a playing card. Give it a google.

I was like, Hey! He forgot the snake! But then I realized he would just say, "It's a giant animatronic snake that moves a little." Fair enough lol
