As a brazilian I always felt sad that the voice of Zé after the passing of José Oliveira was made by americans, but thankfully very recently with Mickey Mouse Shorts and Ducktales they started bringing up brazilians to do his voice again. O Zé Carioca representa o brasileiro bem demais.

Of all the voice actors that have provided José's voice, José Oliverira was always my favorite. There was this extra layer to the way the original portrayal was... It's hard to put a word to it, but it always made me feel that Jose was the youngest of the Caballeros, he sounds youthful, utterly endearing, maybe just a tad naive (maybe innocent?), but it's all from his VOICE, that just oozes personality--and now I know why; his voice actor put so much of himself into the character, and I couldn't be happier. I'm always sad that he and Panchito haven't been fully utilized. I adore their genuine friendship with Donald, and that exact magic from the original era with them hasn't been captured again.

Yeah, I'm brazilian and from Rio funnily enough! So yeah I understand what Zé Carioca's speaking in portuguese! Btw carioca is how those who are born in Rio (the capital city not the state) are called!

I love Jose Carioca, he's my favorite Disney character.

I love Jose Carioca! I wish they'd had an actor as much charisma for Pancho Pistolas. My Mom's cousins danced in The Three Caballeros, so I feel I have a connection to that film. He is such a unique personality. I also enjoy listening to Joe because as a Spanish speaker, I can kind of get the meaning of what he's saying, and I'd love to see more of him.

There is one other thing. In the Radio interview Jose Olivira said something about appearing in a movie called "Carnival" and when asked of Jose Carioca he said "I hope so." It's most likely we was referring to the canceled film Cuban Carnival where Jose was going to appear.

Thank you so much for posting this! José Carioca has been my favorite Disney character since I was little, and I love his music and songs. Sr. Oliveira's rendition of the song "Baia" in The Three Caballeros is sublime. ❤

Thank you for introducing Oliveira to us, because when I watched #Rio2016, I was pretty sure I “heard” him in either the Opening or the Closing Ceremony as Zé Carioca.
