Kendrick's dislike of Drake is deeper than how he walks, talks, and dresses. Maybe it’s the braids idk.. Let’s do the science on it.

To this day, I do NOT understand what Drake expected Kendrick to do when he saw him. All Kendrick said on Control was that he wanted to take everybody's fans and be the best rapper. Was Kendrick supposed to pull out a shank and stab him? I genuinely do not get what he wanted/expected
@chaoticbliss4169
@chaoticbliss4169 Ай бұрын
Drakes problem is that he took it personally and felt threatened that someone was coming for the top position because he felt that he was the only one that should have it and deserved it. It's so dumb. Especially since Kendrick said in the song he has love for them like no shit he's not gonna be hostile to you off stage. He's not saying he hates you he's saying he's doing exactly what you'd expect in hip hop: be competitive and aim for the top spot. His head was so far up his own ass that he didn't even realize by Kendrick name dropping him shows he recognized his skills and talents and held him in high regard. Drake should've expected competition in this lifestyle and should've expected ppl with talent to try and come for the top spot. Hip Hop is a sport and sports are competitive that's just how it is. It's like if a professional runner got mad at someone else trying to be a professional and get to the top. Instead of getting threatened and acting like a child hone your skills, get better and show why you should stay at the top.

Exactly. I don't know why most people never viewed his claims or argument regarding the control verse, from this angle. Like, what did he expect Kendrick to do??? Yeah he said he wants to be the best rapper amongst the reputable rappers of that era, so did he expect kdot to bring out a gun and shoot him when he sees him or stare him down eyeball to eyeball??? Like, is this some gangster thriller or even worse, WWE? Like be for real 😂 it was just a song man and probably a compliment for those that were mature enough to view it that way (cos some folks were even pissed that they weren't mentioned).

One thing I love about Kendrick's tracks is that they're all kinda like his discography. Euphoria is like TPAB, 6:16 is like Untitled Unmastered, Meet The Grahams is like MM&BS, and Not Like Us is like DAMN. Most people or critics hold Euphoria as the best diss and TPAB as the best album. DAMN is his most popular album and Not Like Us is his most popular song. Meet The Grahams and Mr. Morale are pretty hard to listen to because the lyrics and beats hit the most mentally and emotionally. 6:16 is the underrated underdog like UU. Regardless, everyone has a reason for what album & diss is the best and it's all valid.

Only Drake would take something that means nothing in the world of music and try to claim responsibility for someone whole career (musicians always have someone open for them, no one else says “oh I made you because you opened for me on one tour”). Also, I don’t think Drake hated Kendrick (although I’m sure he does now), Drake is too self centered to actively pay attention to someone else, but Kendrick has always disliked Drake and what Drake represents.

Looking back on the entire back and forth (all the way back to Drake reacting to the control verse), Drake was always trying to win via the audience perception, he really did try to control the narrative. I can't find anything now that makes me think, "Yeah, if he goes deeper into this, it's a wrap for Kendrick."
@dspinc2006
@dspinc2006 24 күн бұрын
Hahaha, let's take a trip down memory lane shall we. LL cool J did the exact thing you're speaking of to win his beef against Kool Moe Dee who was a far superior lyricist than him and it worked back then, now he's coming out saying negative things about Drake and that's the hypocrisy of the nature of human beings. The fact remains the numbers don't lie, Drake as unlikable he is by a lot of people, made a ton of money of the culture and we can argue it was because of his Jewish heritage that helped him achieve that, but how many Black owned labels are making their artists super rich where they can start their own labels versus raping them in these contracts to benefit only themselves? It's a shady business and to say we have a problem with Drake and not our own people who oppress us more than any others is a disservice to ourselves and OUR CULTURE. Kendrick has gotten the most attention he's ever gotten by this so-called beef in which UMG has rights to both artists so the real winner is Universal, Kendrick has always made his name through controversy not the actual lyrical content as J Cole said. No one cares about lyrics like they used to, if they did more than half of the industry wouldn't have a pot to piss in. Look at all the women artists who have nothing to offer but their bodies and male artists talking about spinning blocks and shooting opps. Hip Hop is truly dead and its just entertaining to those who think on their same levels.
@St.CrimsonTweets
@St.CrimsonTweets 24 күн бұрын
@dspinc2006 i agree with almost everything you said. But GKMC was not a controversial album, neither was 2PAB, and neither was DAMN which won him a pulitzer. To pretend his body of work is only hailed the way it is because of "controversy" is short-sighted at best. Yes, he has stirred major moments in hip hop with controversy, but his career isn't even close to being defined by those moments. That would be like saying NAS is only known thanks to Ether.

This may seem random, but I think a lot of us are more disappointed with Drake than angry with him. Because we saw him as someone who could continue what rap should be. And then he started making terrible music and doing stupid petty stuff and now he's reaping what he sewed. I was a huge Drake fan back in the day but he started chasing trends making his music unlistenable.

I will say this much about Drake, he has always been tapped into the underground and legitimately seemed passionate about up and coming music. He was so much better and more involved than everyone else that it arguably should be his greatest contribution and a huge part of his legacy, but somehow he managed to take that trait/skill/passion the make a quick buck then kill their career, or else turn them into a lifelong enemy should they make it in spite of him, NOT because of him. Lots of stars have big egos, but it takes a special kind of delusions grandeur to turn what should have been his greatest trait into something that people despise.

Kendrick understands that while rappers are his peers, they're also his competitors. Plain and simple, you gotta stay on your game. His beef is with what Drake stands for - sitting on your laurels, profiting off other people's hard work, rapping about superficial things or experiences you've never been a part of, being fake. Kendrick the person comes before Kendrick the rapper, it's why he keeps to himself, his family, and his community. He isn't fiending for attention on Instagram, he isn't going cross country every year to all sorts of events to try to stay relevant. When Kendrick feels like he has something worth dropping, he drops. Because he knows his work is so prolific, he doesn't need to be farming engagement beforehand for it to spread like wildfire.

You're absolutely on point about what an actual "hater" is. Actual haters are motivated by insecurity, jealousy, envy. They will hate on stuff that obviously makes no sense and that they cannot even explain well themselves. Whereas, if you simply hate someone, you can say exactly why. There is a (at least in your mind) legitimate reason for it, some wrong someone has committed, according to you. There's a major difference. Being a hater is petty; hating someone is serious.

I always dislike the MJ Prince narrative. Michael never hated Prince. Prince was overly sensitive and had a bad temper. In all honesty Drake is more like Prince in that way. Michael didn’t like to be compared to Prince because his career was already established from he was a child so he didn’t understand the comparisons. Michael eventually grew to be apprehensive of Prince as a person and it had nothing to do with the music. Michael thought Prince was talented and got him on stage with James Brown but Prince took it as Michael undermining him.
