In China whenever we meet a new friend we ask for their characters. Without knowing their characters it's equivalent with not knowing their name all together due to the large number of homophones.

I don't get how a lot of people have the same family name. It's seems like they're all either Kim or Park (Or at least 90%).

It's funny because I'm Chinese and I can read most of the Korean and not the Chinese. No actually it does make sense because in Chinese you have to learn each character one by one, while Korean has an alphabet.

There are jimin in BTS and AOA totally different people>< and 珍 in Chinese mostly used for the girls' name

My last name is Seol or 설 and I swear the only seols I've met are my family members. But I love my last name because it's unique and not the common like park, Kim, lee, Jung,

This is so helpful! I've heard -씨 at the end of someone's name multiple times and I knew the rule about -아 and -야 but I didn't know the rule about -씨. Thank you for clearing that up!
