@@sambassmusic78 Axl literally self-immolated, Kurt didn't do anything or even affect Axl in any way, although his suicide may have minimally affected Axl. Axl destroyed himself. He went through legal problems in 1994, tried to commit suicide and his mother died from cancer. He went into seclusion for years and when he tried to come back everything fell apart with the departure of Slash and Duff (Let's be honest, Axl probably didn't care about Matt. although the guy is quite loyal to the people who give him reciprocity, If I remember correctly Axl and Matt had a fight or maybe the band itself) So the only thing Kurt could have affected is literally "encouraging" Axl's suicide. Anyway, we know that Kurt is also a brat who exaggerated too many things. But Axl is the type of person who has mental illnesses, but still and thank God he is with us, simply being happy Sorry for my bad English, gringo♡ podcast(? Is it a podcast haha? Peace

@@sambassmusic78 Thank for repost♡ Be careful, countryman, there is a lot I want to talk about, so stay away from the Bibles. While I think that "damaging" Axl's public image in part didn't really have a crucial impact, what truly damaged Axl's image were the altercations that were marked for posterity and also the delays (sometimes justifiable and other times not) also his offstage "fights" like Vince Niel(? (I really don't even remember his name). I think these fights really came about just to stir the pot and attract people Speaking of Axl's public figure, I don't think he was drastically damaged by Kurt, I feel like it was a combination of factors such as the mistreatment with Slash, who told white lies to look good in public while damaging Axl's image, painting him as a "control freak" (Something people say a lot. I think you won't believe me but Slash is a pretty lying guy, said by his closest friends) and despite really having problems with control (for example Axl claiming to want to have control in everything) I feel that they (and him) overexaggerated a lot in that term Another thing that affected his image was his excessive privacy (he is the only one who does not have an autobiography and it would really be interesting to read to understand more about what he has experienced) This mystique around Axl was also one of the things that really attracted me and also kept me from having to see totally disgusting types of comments towards him, coming from ignorance. This disconnection with the "fans" has also led many to call him bad or treat him as a bad person. I remember anecdotes from other people knowing Axl that really talk about him as another human being with a faithful heart, such as the time a fan ran into Axl in a bar and they talked for hours, and surprisingly Axl is a person who talks quite a bit. and openly expresses his feelings and thoughts. Axl has told how during the 2000s he felt lost and simply sad (he was obviously depressed). Talking about of Kurt, I really feel that in my perception he is a somewhat hypocritical person, calmly if you wanted to disappear from the media you could have done it in the blink of an eye, just like Axl did without any effort. Also if you wanted to be really "purist" you could have not done things that marked your career like MTV and interviews in famous places claiming that that was not "pure". Axl on the other hand did all this during the 2000s with CD (Chinese Democracy) literally the man did not promote or publicize his project for it to be sold, he just left it there for whoever wants to listen to it. The only publicity he did was an interview with Rolling Stone, nothing more and nothing less, there is not even a clip or music video of any of the songs on CD About Kurt I think from my perspective that he was a brat not in the way that you would believe about having knowledge about his life but from simply seeing what he did in some cases contradicting himself or being hypocritical, in fact I remember a really good comment written by a fan of Nirvana "The last thing I can say about Kurt is that he was a good musician." and what I hate most of all is the "dehumanization" (I say it in an exaggerated way because I have no other word at the moment) that they did to Axl, suffering from mental illness and that people take advantage of that is not nice at all ( Yoda and Beta are a clear example of people who abused Axl's trust), I also don't like comments like "But Kurt suffered more." This is definitely the most wrong comment I could have ever heard and that is why I feel that the Nirvana community (Kurt) is quite reprehensible for these types of comments, just like "I wish Axl had committed suicide" they are also completely hypocritical and in bad taste that left me simply sad about how insensitive they can be, without also telling about of the massive hatred just for this preschool fight started by Kurt trying to be the hero of a story and failing when he knew that Axl really had more support back then, of course knowing the popularity of Guns in 1992 you could realize how it all ended at that time By the way, I had no idea that this was a podcast, how curious, cheers, I hope you succeed♡

Doesn’t matter now. It’s 2024. Have to say, though, the lack of a true rock icon after Kurt Cobain is evident in the present. It’s all “bleh” from 1994 on, apparently, until the next “one” shows up…

Axl was a fan of Nirvana. I believe it all started because Axl asked Kurt to perform at his birthday and Kurt said No. After Axl kept on asking Kurt for Nirvana to go on tour with them and he kept saying no. 1 of the shows Axl stopped mid concert and left the stage because he had a sore throat. There was like $400,000 in damages from pissed off fans. It was actually a smart move not going on tour with them when he asked. Punk and Grunge are not the same just sped up. Punk was real in the 70’s, maybe up to 81’ when it started to eat itself do to posers. Grunge was just a name for rock with a dark tonality, often low tunings, sometimes odd time signatures, but most significantly a heavy depressed vocals mixed out front, with fashion that said it wasn’t fashion, but it was fashion and it eas sold out hypocritical way before nirvana hit the scene.. ✌🏼 Allegedly

People who weren’t from age 15 to age 23 in 1991 should never state their opinion on what they think of Nirvana - or the whole “grunge thing” in early 1990’s. Seriously, if you were alive in 1991, having younger generations whine about how overrated Nirvana was…is both irritating and laughable. Because of Kurt Cobain and his band named Nirvana? Society actually changed. No shit. It wasn’t a regular chart-topping situation. It was something much more on a societal level - and no, it hasn’t happened since then.

If Kurt was murdered, his murderer was the stupidest of the stupids. Why just not let him die from an overdose ? Why shooting him with such a big gun ? Nobody would do that to stage a suicide. This crazily long gun is just Cobain wanting to be sure he would never wake up or miss his shot (actually you can survive with a shot in the head). Sad story. And he could have been saved. Several people went in his house when he was still hidding there, alive, planning his suicide, and maybe doubting. But they didn't find him. The truth seems rather be that too many people, including his closest ones, where making him feel guilty. Everybody was saying him he was a shity irredeemable junky, and he believed it.

@@sambassmusic78 Yeah I thought exactly the same once. I don't know if it could have been possible to bring him to take that kind of radical break. Anyway the story of Kurt Cobain really shows a failure of how society relate to addictions, depression and suicide. People think that suicide is a choice, but suicide is just a part of depression, the deadly part of depression. I think Kurt simply needed time and love, empathy, without judgment, to get free from the guilt that crippled him to death. Also, I've red a bit Cross's Heavier than Heaven, and when I red that there was a closed section in the rehab center where he went, I told myself "darn, he could have saved"... but apparently people where either not taking his self destructive tendencies seriously, or didn't know what to do. Love said she understood that the OD in Rome was a suicide attempt... but I don't understand why no goddamn psychiatrist didn't just put him in closed service. Actually he could have been saved so many times... That is so sad. Hopefully, with what we know today and public education about mental health, that would not happen. Cheers from Belgium, it's one a.m. here, I must go to sleep.

Axl did it to himself, he pushed the rest of the band away, one by one they all quit. Took way too damn long to get the new album going. Hired some very odd choices for a new band. The new songs were stylistically not what people were hoping for. The delays, rewrites, rerecordings, and replacing the replacements over and over, just kept burying the band. BUT, Slash and Duff came back and they're playing huge stadiums and earning ridiculous money now. They came out alright, it only took like 20 years to get back on track LOL. And hey! They've even released new music. Axl survived Kurt and is doing just fine now.

I agree with a lot here but I think if Kurt and Axl had been cool it may have led to Axl turning GNR into the industrial rock band he wanted it to be. That would have fit right in with the late 90's and GNR would have had a second act.

Sorry to say, but Chinese Democracy was worth the wait only because of “Better” and “Street Of Dreams”. And “Better” could decapitate and incinerate any leftovers of “Sweet Child O’ Mine”. I said it and will own the opinion. It’s impossible for anyone after Gen X to grasp the cultural importance of grunge because the world was a different planet 30-35 years ago. Just like it’s impossible for us Gen X’ers to comprehend the cultural relevance of The Beatles.

The spaghetti was Steven's gear. Axl never fell off. GN'R was unstable and ways parted. Had GN'R stayed together, they wouldn't have taken a back seat to anyone or any movement. Grunge didn't affect GN'R, but GN'R was the bridge to grunge. Kurt was a hypocrite and in the end, a meaningless failure of a father.

The way I see it, Kurt Cobain suffered from mental illness problems but still managed to make sure his daughter was set for life. That doesn't seem very meaningless to me.
