How Lomachenko "Downloads" Opponent's Weaknesses

It’s become a bit of a meme that Vasyl High Tech Lomachenko “downloads” information about his opponents during the first few rounds. But the thing is, it’s absolutely true. Today we’re going to look at 3 fights where Lomachneko picked up on certain flaws in his competitors' boxing within the first few rounds, and then used those weaknesses against them. By the end of this video, it should be clear that all Lomachenko needs is for an opponent to make one mistake. He can then capitalize on that mistake to establish a few offensive tools, then build up from there until he’s landing nearly at will.

*Loma’s Historic Boxing Accolades* Amateur Record - Greatest of all time: 396-1 2x boxing olympic golds back to back in Different Weight classes (first ever to achieve it) 1 loss twice avenged. He fought only the elite fighters in amateurs and beat them every single time excluding 1 night where he got silver. Every tournament he was ever in, he left with gold. Professional Achievements: -Fastest tied world champion on his 3rd fight. -Fastest two division world champion on his 7th fight -fastest ever three division champion on his 12th fight. -4 consecutive fights ending in opponents quitting from his 7-11th fights. -First ever 2 boxing gold olympic champions in the ring vs Rigo resulting in Rigo quitting. Loma dismisses this as a big achievement as Rigo was 2 divisions lighter (Rigo called out Loma). - fights at 135lbs eventhough he is a natural 126lber. Therefore, always fights larger, heavier, stronger opponents. Note: his best weight seems to be 126/130 for his movement is not hindered by weight and opponents arent as big. However he overcomes this with ring IQ and positioning opponents into bad situations. - took the most nuts shots ever with 41 clear low blows by Salido in his 2nd fight. (Had to put it in... lol) - has only fought #1 contenders or world champions. Thus, has the best resume in boxing history based on the ratio of fights vs quality of competition. - unified lightweight division first time since like, 1993. - fight statistics similiar to money mayweather in defensive stats (he very rarely gets hit, super active but also extremely evasive - most people do not notice these stats). Also, his training routine and techniques have been adopted in many boxing gyms around the world. (Tennis ball attached to cap for hand accuracy and movement). Just an example of what he has achieved.

@@Aphorim What’s to disagree about? He never said that Loma would be remembered as THE best in our time. He said Loma will be remembered as ONE of the very best in our time. @@bonulite because usually when there's boxers accomplishing the same feats, the one doing to a greater degree is the one who is remembered. just the way it is, hence, why I said it's unlikely. Coupled with the fact Canelo has never been dropped or defeated by a washed up fighter.

@@Aphorim Is your memory that bad that you can’t just remember both fighters as being special? Just because one fighter is exceptional doesn’t mean others can’t be remembered as such as well. Canelo and Loma are completely different fighters. Loma has some of the best footwork and fast reflexes the sport has ever seen. His defence and pressure tends to focus mainly on that rather than head movement. Canelo’s style doesn’t really place an emphasis on dynamic footwork; instead mainly focusing on head movement and an iron chin. They both have exceptional fight IQ. Also, while Canelo may be shorter than nearly all of his recent opponents, he’s definitely not smaller. He reportedly walks around at around 190 these days. Most of his super middleweight opponents tend to walk around at about the same weight. Loma on the other hand walks around at about 140 which is much lighter than what most of his lightweight opponents tend to walk around at. Appreciate both fighters for what they bring to the sport instead of this one fighter allegiance garbage.

One thing I think is actually a negative about being trained since childhood is that even if you're good, most boxers never learn to adapt style on the fly. Their style is ingrained in them so deep that they don't have an off switch for it. When you get into combat sports later on, your mind is ready to absorb different disciplines all at the same time, and you have more potential creativity with blending them together.

The last 30 seconds of this video is as concise a summary of the OODA Loop theory espoused by Col. John Boyd that I've ever heard, and I have a degree in military history. A lot of people think the OODA Loop (Observe-Orient-Decide-Act) is just doing things faster than your opponent. Rather, it's doing those things that cause maximum frustration and confusion in your opponent and ultimately making them simply quit due to the lack of effective options. Great video as always, can't wait to see what this channel does in 2022....

A question I often have is why most fighters keep making the same mistakes in their fights even after they get hit making them? I know the way you train is the way you react, which I believe is true, although I would more likely say the way you spar is the way you will react or respond. You can do all kinds of drills but what and how you can functionalize them in sparring or fighting is key! As to the original question, even in books like the Tao of Jeet Kune Do Bruce Lee, or whoever actually wrote it say to keep varying your tactics and responses so as to not become predictable and easy to read and time? Adjustments? Yet so many fighters keep repeating the same mistakes over and over? Common Sense? JMHO.... And Great Video as always!!! 🙂

Boxing doesn't make you stupid. Most smart people don't choose a sport, where you get hit in the face many times every time you train. Irl is almost the same as Tekken - if you can one or two things perfectly, all you have to do, is time one of them right one time. And with 3 x 3 minutes to find the guys holes, while keeping distance, is not that hard - unless he's "Tyson".

What a great brake down 1 of the best I’ve seen on Loma. Ppl that say his over rated DKSAB that man is always fighting much much bigger guys & dismantling them. His punchers are super accurate he land his glove clean flush with a very hight percentage of his punchers. Compu box has him 2nd to Floyd for landed punchers +/- Loma is 20.4 & Floyd is 24.2 we know compu box isn’t 100 % accurate thou.

if you guys want to see another example of a boxer timing a boxers rhythm, watch the Corrales vs Floyd fight. Towards the end of the fight Floyd figured out his hop and arms going up and down and started timing Jabs, right hands over4 the top and left hooks.

You know, during the Lopez fight, the announcers kept excusing Loma's poor performance in the early rounds, then the middle rounds. They kept on talking about how smart he was, downloading information. Every damn round, Loma is downloading, downloading, downloading. And then it's the 7th and 8th rounds and they shut up about the downloading. Look, every good fighter tries to figure out their opponent, even if they are a lesser opponent, so as not to get complacent and fall victim to their own overconfidence. But with Loma we started to get this "downloading" line, instead of the classic "figured him out" line. And as for Lopez, I'm sure Loma downloaded all the information he needed. But Lopez was just a little to big, too strong and too good to use it effectively. No disrespect of Loma. But there is a reason we have weight classes.

I thought you were going to explain the Teofimo fight aswell, thats the first time i noticed how Lomachenko "downloads" information He was able to block Teofimo's uppercut that he used to KO he's previous opponents

if you had such a record as Loma after having so many years without a loss, two gold medals and hundreds of fights without losing. I'm not surprised he looked past Teo.

@@vicentegeonix watch the video for yourself, you can see it around rounds 6 thru 8 At least thats the first time i noticed Loma was blocking Teo's uppercuts Going into the fight i knew Teofimo was going to land it at least a few times and i wanted to see how Loma would react to it but i noticed Loma was blocking nearly all of them from round 6 onwards
