Great video! This is indeed a doubt many people do have! Military grade materials really pushes forward the iSups longevity! Thanks for sharing 🤙

These "military grade" materials are all marketing bs - There isn't a standard for PVC that defines it. Also usually very heavy too - take Bluefin for example - weigh almost twice what my board does. Have fun carrying it :)

Do you frequently fold it? I'm afraid bending the material could quickly cause tear. Am I too cautious? I'm about to purchase an inflatable fir mobility reasons, but this is a key point for me

So long as you fold it loosely, and not too tight, the material should hold up for many years. You can do this many times each week and still get lots of use out of it. The more premium price points will generally last longer. Hope this helps and all the best! Beau

Riddle, "what sits in the sun and goes boom"? A Starboard Stream. I knew better and almost purged it twice. "It will be okay, it's good for 18psi and I only put 14psi in it". I was wrong. Storing a board out of the elements, especially the sun, isn't a bad idea either.

I purchased an iRocker, it was replaced after one summer use because the seams were coming apart. I received a new SUP, but since it arrived in November and here in Ontario Canada that’s when it starts getting cold, I waited till summer to start paddle boarding again. After approximately 6 times being out with my board I started to notice the seams coming apart, so I contacted iRocker. Well I was extremely disappointed to find out that they would not warranty my new board and my first purchase only came with a 1 year warranty (not the 3 year mentioned in the video). I would not recommend iRocker to anyone since they don’t stand behind their product.

Really useful, informative video. Excessive mention of Starboard does make it seem like an info-mercial, at times. I recommend highlighting features of other brandsas well, like you did with Aqua Marina, to avoid this perception of bias. Although, Starboard does make sweet gear! Thanks for posting, I learn lots from your videos.

Thanks for the comment! The only reason that Starboard was heavily mentioned was because they were the only brand to offer extensive insights into their equipment. We reached out to six top brands over two months ago and never heard back from most. Gladiator were helpful also. Glad you are enjoying the content. Many thanks, Beau

What do you think it can happen if you inflate and deflate the isup for the entire summer every single day? It would harm the seam too much?
@SUPboardermag
@SUPboardermag 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. There are a number of factors that may influence this such as how you store it overnight and if the seams are being squashed, how much PSI you place into the board (too much) and if when pumped up the board changes in pressure (due to temperature). I would say it would last a few seasons, but with all things a lot of use and wear will degrade the quality. Hope this helps. Thanks, Beau

@@SUPboardermag i want to start a sup rent activity i will start woth a couple of them and i need to inflate and deflate them every day they will be stored inside in a safe place. The place is coastal very rocky, do you have any advice to protect the sup against puncture on shallow rocks? Are there kind of protection in the market? Are isup resistant in the long run to rock places? I fear that beginner customers will destroy my sups in a couple of week, then my activity will be fucked😂

from what i have read the best way to store them is slightly inflated. im sure that rolling them will begin to start putting strain on certain parts of the material which will eventually develop a leak. (after years of use).

@@SUPboardermag as expected Decathlon refuse to replace or fix it stating that damages caused by leaving it out in the sun while inflated is not covered. I bought another one from them a longer (11') and leaner (32' width ) one it's lot less stable getting use to that.

I've had my Tower SUP last 10 years through years of abuse...whacked with a machete, dragged all over, ran into rocks with a motor and outside of a pinhole leak from a barnacle it was working fine. Fast forward to last summer, did a 6AM paddle and left the board on the water in the hot texas sun. Came back 6 hours later and the epoxy at the seams melted from the heat, granted the water was basically boiling it was so hot.

@SUPboardermag
@SUPboardermag Жыл бұрын
Good question.. BUT , No this is not sponsored by starboard in anyway at all, we have taken no money off of them for this video. The reason it looks like it's sponsored by Starboard is because they were the only company that actually got back with a good amount of information telling us about the lifespan of paddle boards. We emailed at least 10 companies asking for information about iSUP lifespans and the ones in the video were the only ones that got back. Which I think shows that actually not many of them know their lifespan of their boards truly. But I do understand that because of this and the feature image I do see it looks like a Starboard pimp. But I guess that is why they got back to us, it could of been with Red Paddle Co boards but they weren't that helpful! :-) many thanks Reuben.
