You'd be surprised how a year of lung practice can get you. Hell, I'm asthmatic, but I can still hold a note well. The reason U-San probably struggled is likely not down to lungs, it's that to do such a high and forced note takes SO MUCH DAMN AIR

I was known to scream loudly as a young child… I’m most certain that I can hold a note if I had payed attention to the fact we were going to endlessly yell the the sound e until we couldn’t yell anymore… I would’ve at least been less likely to stop… I also have no idea how long I can hold a note because I’ve never really tried…
