My husband already got an offer letter for a senior HCA role in a NHS Trust. He's on a spouse dependant Visa which expires in April. He wasn't asked at the interview if he needed sponsorship but it was clear from his application that his Visa would expire soon. Should he contact HR if they would process his COS ? Hi, Can you please advice : I am waiting for my COS currently. On 21st July my HR mailed me saying that their lawyer has submitted my COS application. Yesterday I sent an email asking about any updates, to which I got the below email- The Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) to sponsor you has been organised and HR will be organising for the to pay the CoS costs next. I am confused now, any idea how much more time it can take

Hello sir, good day! I just stumbled on your KZfaq channel while searching for “how long it takes for certificate of sponsorship to be given” In my case I called the care home, some questions where asked, and a, and after that the lady gave me an email address where I can send my CV to. There was an immediate respond after sending my CV, that they don’t work with CV, some forms were sent to me to fill and some documents were also required from me before they can offer COS, I have sent all the required documents to them since November, I call them every week and they keep telling me I have to wait. Can a book a one on one session with you?

I know there have been backlogs ever since the pandemic started around 2020 . I waited a while as well . All you can do is sit tight and do other things for the job/move

Great topic I was offered a certificate of sponsorship in March in UK when I did interview they told me that they were in process of applying for there sponsorship licence I submitted all documents via email that was required it has been 7 months now I must admit I really gave up all hope this going happen I even started searching other health care jobs until I decided call the organization to find out why the process is has been taking this long they told me it's home office there waiting on to grant license to start sending certificate sponsorship I literally geogle it an was confirmed that some home was now process applying licence and be cause of high volume of applications this reason nothing happens before it's time I am pack ready waiting call any time 😊

Hi May I ask what are the potential reasons causing the delay of issue of COS letter? I’m a quite simple case that I’m applying in the U.K. and I have provided all the documents they requested and the HR team also work with a immigration law firm so I can’t understand why it takes so long?

To be honest I think a lot of it is bureaucracy, HR departments producing the COS letter and also the home office being slow . how long have you been waiting for your COS letter

normally they would be on the list unless they want to apply for a new sponsor licence to sponsor you

Hi Farouk. Really enjoy your videos. I have got a job offer from a Trust on 27th July and sent in my pre-employment documents and CoS address proof on that day itself. I am yet to receive my CoS. The HR emailed me today that it has been sent to UKVI and is pending approval from their end. I have read UKVI usually approved Defined Cos applications in one day ? I have been waiting for quite some time now. Any advice on how long the Cos might take ? And what exactly UKVI checks in one’s application ?

Honestly i am not sure , but is it possible for you to change anyone so they are the same . but it may or may not be something that delays the application.

Hey I am not too sure of the exams you will need to do for nursing specifically but if it is similar to physio . If you can get your degree recognized by the nursing professional body and sucessfully get a job in uk , thats the harder part because at the moment nursing is on the health and care visa hope that helps and Amen

Honestly I dont know but I will say that will be every fast, the fastest I have heard is around 1-2 weeks but I am not saying its impossible (im just not sure )

if you mean , for example if you dont make the application to the home office within the cos letter time . You may have to ask for another letter. I havent come across it too many times

Honestly if they have said they have applied then all you can do is wait and follow up with email regularly , To mu knowledge I didn't get a notification when they applied , I just got the letter when they it to me. Time varies , you might wait only a few days or even a few months hope that helps , let me know if any more specific questions

unfortunately right now and generally it can take while to get the letter but i cant give a specific time . I have heard recently people waiting for 3 months . Have you preped your other documents and applications ?

Hi I think I just made a mistake, I already got my cos. recently I renewed my passport to prepare for visa application but found my new passport number isn’t the same as passport number in cos. Do I have the ask for new cos?

it depends has your old passport already expired. but also you should ask your trust if they can update the information on your cos to show your new passport . Just so there is no confusion or delay latr but check with the your cos issuer

I've been waiting for 2 months and my employer emailed me and they said they are having some administrative issue on logging in to their portal that's why they still couldn't give me the COS. oo that is a tricky one , but it depends on what the issue is , If you have been waiting for that long and they are still having issues , maybe you can start to ask them for a specific time frame as to when they will sort it out . do you know if they have contacted the portal admin

Great to be completely honest , I am still hearing that it can take around 3 months but I have also heard from a friend that they got it in a week . If your organisation is big and do it regularly , I would expect it to come out fast but i would be cautious and anticipate the longest time , so that if it comes early you will be pleasantly surprised

for me it’s been 7 weeks too, i have heard that there is some backlog problems. All you need to do is just wait.. i don’t understand why others cos gets approved in couple days and i have to wait weeks😭

I've been waiting for 2 months. The wait is terrible. I contacted my employer and at first he said you have to wait 3-4 weeks. 4 weeks passed, he told me to wait 6 weeks. While now he says he doesn't know how long you can wait. It's the season of we are on vacation in the summer season. Home Office is full of Ukrainian citizens. I am very upset by this waiting.. Hey sorry about that , I am hearing very similar things about waiting times for COS letters . I know how frustrating it is to keep waiting for soo long . Unfortunately all we can do is wait . Have you completed the other elements of your application . Also are you applying from outside the UK ?

Sadly it can take a while if your employer make it take that long , I have seen cases where it only took a week but like mine it took months. Its really annoying but there are other things you can do while you wait. Ill also make a short video on some of the reasons it can take a while :)
