how long will it run? 35ah Weize battery running 40lb trolling motor Jonny pod

Alot of people been having questions on what battery to use with the jonny pod,i had the same question,so i pulled the trigger on two 35ah batteries and I’m very impressed with it so far...if y’all would like to see a on the water test of the jonny trolling down the creek on one 35ah battery and see how long it last on the water i can make that happen,just leave me a comment on the video and i can do it as soon as i can get out there..thank y’all for watching

Not only are not testing underload in water, which would give you the only accurate time limit for this, but you have been running your trolling motor for that long with the outside of water and a lot of people don’t know this, but the brushes on the inside of your motor and everything and it gets cooled by sitting in the water running it that long and getting that brush motor that warm without it sitting in water is not a good idea ever

I could be wrong but I think the motor will draw more power when it is under load and starting and stopping more.

You are correct..on the water at half speed you can go for a good hour..

there is no load on the motor so this is not a reasonable test.

I just purchased the Minn Kota c2-30 (30lb thrust) and needed a battery. Minn Kota recommends at least a 100ah battery. Home Depot had a 85ah battery and it was very large physically and weighed a ton. Walmart had a 36ah battery so I purchase it. This will be used on my 12ft 65lb canoe. I haven’t used it yet and have since worried if this battery will be sufficient. I guess after watching your test it will be. I hope so. Thanks for taking the time putting this video together. I know times will be less when on the water but I have no intention of running the motor continuously while fishing. Thanks again.

On 5th gear will consume 60 amp hour, so you'll need batery over than 120 amp for 2 hour ride. Every hour on 5th gear it will consume 60 amp hour. So you'll need batery over than that, like if you're riding 55 lbs motor, you'll need at least 150 amp batery to ride 2 hour on 5th gear

I have a 15 foot gheenoe and don’t wanna super heavy battery on it. If I have a 40 lb thrust on it and only go out for like half days and troll in small spurts do you think this would be fine?

That gheenoe will handle pretty much anything. Just get a battery that will last all day. Doesnt weigh that much more.

You can buy a 40ah lifpo battery on Amazon for 200$

Divide the 35ah by the 16amp draw you should last 2.1 hours !

it will last 2.1 running. I have a question what about if you unplug the battery while you not using it on the water ,would still drain up the battery?

Should have put it in a bucket of water so it had a true test with the water resistance.

Your forgetting about resistance, water resistance is going to be more then it just turned on in the open air so if you want to do a real test get it out on the water and do it that way to get real results.
