I've been a weed mowing contractor for decades Though I know you weren't talking about Bushhoging as I am but there are similarities. I've always told my Customers that Terrain, Type of weed, Obstacles and Moisture are the four factors that dictate how fast I can mow. And Any one of those four can Double the time it takes to Mow a given Property. And you will likely have a Combination of the Four. M.H.

I cut 4 acres and I can usual get it done in about 3 beers 🍺

there is also the consideration that the mower often/usually does not cut everything that goes under the deck and due the load on the deck, must often raise the deck for a first pass, the lower the deck back down for a second pass., That is a 50percent efficiency loss right there. Then if the grass is tall or wet or heavy then cannot run full speed as that will stall the mower engine or jam the blades. Overall, I would not suggest more than 30percent efficiency

When I bought 5 aces couple years back I looked at zero turns vs kubota bx. Decided I need the capabilities of the bx more than just a mowing machine. Still, I can knock 3.5 acres in about 2 hours with its 60in deck.

As long as they all use the same basis for comparison, it will give you a good way to compare across manufacturers and models. Even if most of us understand that the numbers are unattainable in real world usage.

I don't know how many Acres per hour and I wondered when I was shopping why would one mow that fast. Well Again I don't know how many acres but it cut a 2 hour job to 1 hour because I have so many trees. Speed I go as fast as it will go when I mow the pastures in the fall. I like my Ex Mark more than my New Holland TC 33d and the 72 in finishing mower

You can also take the inches of the deck multiple by mph then divide it by 100 so if you have a 54 in mowing deck and mowing at 4 mph it would look like this 54x4=216 then ÷ by 100 = 2.16 acres per hour

Not to mention that the faster the machine goes, the faster a washboard pattern will start wearing into the ground (assuming the machine is going faster than 3mph-ish)..... just like dirt road.

the answer depends on whether a man or a woman is doing the mowing. I cut our 2.5 acres in about 40 minutes it takes my wife about 2 hours on the same mower. I don't dare say she is slow but I will say she certainly isn't fast.
