@@HollowKnight656 but you need dash (or fireball) to actually leave queens station, so it doesn't really count.

@@squiddler7731 the little areas in resting grounds and howling cliffs counted, why not in fungal? Admittedly you still need to go through fungal to get to deep nest but you get to fungal as soon as you reach queens station

@@wyattmurphy7153 well, it sounds like it's sub-pixel + frame-perfect, but like. frame-perfect tricks can be done with enough practice and a good reaction time, and OP provided a method to get the right sub-pixel, so like. i may not be a speedrunner myself, but it doesn't sound impossible - more like it's not worth the effort for more casual players. like. i'm aware frame-perfect skips are a pain in the ass to perform, but that hasn't stopped speedrunners before. heck, sometimes not even skips that require multiple frame-perfect inputs in a row are off the table.

personally, i would call them subareas. like, soul sanctum is part of city of tears, so it's a subarea

@@paroan1229 Yes, but soul sanctum and mantis village neither have those title cards, so that's where I make the distinction (although I can definitely get why you'd consider places like the colosseum a sub area of kingdom's edge, that's fine too)

@@captive4843 I see what you mean but if we're counting dirtmouth (a hub world) as an area, which most people do, I think it's fair to count colo and godhome for similar reasons (fine if you don't though)

Godhome was immediately ruled out due to being the last area someone will ever go, and the colo, (never seen it) I think is pointless to go because it’s literally a coliseum, and not really an area. You make good points tho

I too got the dream nail before the dash on my first run, but that's because I was wary of fighting the big bosses (the False Knight to begin with... got the nail before even passing him!).

Even by their standards of what an area is White palace and godhome would count anyways as those sections have their own maps it’s just that those maps don’t exist, what I mean is that if you open your map in these areas it just says you don’t have a map for this area so they are in fact areas. Just something fun that I thought of while watching, with no effect on literally anything.

By definition, infected crossroads is impossible. It requires dreamnail or wings. Godhome needs dreamnail. Same with white-palace. These aren’t any sort of jump that you might be able to bypass. These are things that require you to teleport to get to them. Maybe, you might be able to if you use major glitches like the menu bug or something that lets you walk through walls to find where they are in the data files, but to me that feels outside of the spirit of this challenge. Hive and Colosseum sound hellish but plausible to me. I think the main Abyss would at least require dream nail, wings, or claw to escape the soft lock when you get king’s brand. There’s another option. Just to the right of the nail master in Kingdom’s Edge there’s a hole that leads to a giant georock deep in the ground. I think that rock is in Abyss, and you can escape, but I think you’d still need dive to get in.

@@guri256 Why would you be stuck after getting kings brand? Hornet gets you out and then you can get back to painfully get yourself to either col or back to city, right?

@@desmondcoppin591 objectively terrible L it's the EXACT same color scheme as greenpath*, making it quite literally one of only 2 areas that look nearly identical to each other. You gain NOTHING in queen's gardens that is important, and no, optional shade upgrades are not important unless you want 112%. The area is quite literally THE most boring, uninteresting, and useless place in all of hollow knight apart from the resting grounds.

@@vulblhotdiessfi QG has a much more dark lush green pallette than greenpath, and it's filled with ornate structures that make it have a much more controlled feel to it compared to wild greenpath, but is still overgrown enough to show that nature's the one in control here. Also the music for it is the best area music in the game imo, it really makes the area.
