I recently watched a german TV-Show where a 6th grader and a journalist had to guess country outlines blindfolded. Was amazing how they were able to distinguish the country just by touching

You need to memorise the shapes so that you can find the shape which is conveniently outlined for you, just incase you didn't memorise it!

2:53 Confirmed : Geoguessr supports Irish reunification The domain for Switzerland is "ch" because it stands for the Latin "Confoederatio Helvetica", which means "Helvetic Confederation" or "Swiss Confederation", the official name of Switzerland. The domain for Czechia is of course "cz". Also you missed a few "Bern" while looking for a domain. That would have helped you if you noticed.

The Swiss one drove me nuts because as a German learner, I saw street spelled "Strasse" and not "Straße" almost immediately after he spawned in which told me everything I needed to know about the country he's in

Didn't Germany some years back do an orthography reform where they simplified the ß into ss in all/most words? I vaguely recall hearing about that.

@@tylisirn nah from what I heard it was a proposed reform but most Germans refused it, but in Switzerland and Liechtenstein they reformed it in the 20th century In 1954, a group of reformers in West Germany similarly proposed, among other changes to German spelling, the abolition of ⟨ß⟩; their proposals were publicly opposed by German-language writers Thomas Mann, Hermann Hesse, and Friedrich Dürrenmatt and were never implemented.[33] Although the German Orthography Reform of 1996 reduced the use of ⟨ß⟩ in standard German, Adrienne Walder writes that an abolition outside of Switzerland appears unlikely.

@@Verze4826 You can speak a language well and not be aware of regional differences. I think being able to see a word in a language you're learning and identify the dialect and know where that dialect is spoken is very very different to being "good" at speaking the standardized dialect. Otherwise you might say a native English speaker from London isn't good at English because they don't know what "zucchini" means

Here are my totals after playing those quizzes before watching you play them! Silhouettes: 125,000 out of 135,000 (Malta was one of the ones I got wrong) Capitals: 108,213 out of 125,000 4 Countries: 53,125 out of 70,000 Basic: 67,421 out of 90,000 Celebrities: 64,735 out of 120,000 (I'm terrible with celebs, so I was actually surprised by how good I did.) True or False: 46,250 out of 90,000 (I kinda fell apart in that one.)

15:55 I instantaneously recognized (x even tho it's kinda logical since I've always lived in Lyon, I still find it impressive and funny, because it's literally the second biggest french city so I don't know every centimeter of it, and it could be another one that looks like Lyon, but the architecture and the fact I lived just next to the spot showed for 10 years helped a bit
