Hi Em. That was a very good idea to show how much you can mill in a day on a band sawmill. I've seen big old circular sawmills powered by a 200hp engine and frankly they take longer to do the initial set up and rotate of each log than to cut it up. Once they get it squared up, it's zip zip zip & that ones done. I've sorted lumber piles on the job site and I always wondered how much time it takes to mill up a pile big enough to build a 5,000 sq. foot house. So thank you for posting . ben/ michigan

Good to see that great big smile at the end of the intro from one of the two most beautiful gems in Pennsylvania, (get it)? You did not say how long it took to get those logs milled but I remember from a past video you said you run the mill about five hours a day. By the way I have not forgotten to send something I said I was going to send, there has just been a few delays. Sorry. (Hope that was not a hospital bracelet on your wrist was why no Sunday review). Hope you all are well. DUM SPIRO SPERO

Hello, What if you sticker the boards after they have been cut while stacking them behind the saw. Elmers Wood Glue will hold the handles onto the planter boxes. One bottle will be enough for more than a dozen boxes. If you put glue onto one side of the handle and smoosh it onto the box and then attach it the way you always do with nails or wood screws. I will send a $100 if a handle loosens. Good Luck, thank you for all the wonderful videos. Richard Callander

A gentleman walks into a store to buy a saw. The store employee recommends to the customer a small entry level chainsaw insisting that it will make the man's job much easier. The customer is reluctant at first but upon being assured that anyone can use a chainsaw he decides to make the purchase. He took his new saw home and started cutting wood. But it took forever and was much slower than his trusty old hand saw. Irate, the man took his saw back to the store to complain to the employee about how bad it was. The employee checks the saw out briefly, sets it down and starts it right up. The customer was flabbergasted. "You mean it turns on and makes noise!"

Get a Cleereman saw carriage mill and you could get 25,000 to 35,000 feet a day!! The mill down the road runs 2 older Cleereman and can cut 70,000 feet of hardwood if runs good! Usually get 50,000 feet in 2 and 3a flooring and pallet wood 4 quarter enough to fill dry kill with flooring stock on stickers in a day! They can haul some butt!

19 logs at an average of say 80bf per log scale = 1,520bf . Scribner scale is based on 1/4" teeth, you probably cut about 15/30% over scale, with a band mill with 1/8" or less kerf, For full size lumber. . Probaly near 100%+ more then scale. when you cut to standard size, or the specs of modern lumber sizes. . I know weyerhaeuser, can push 200% over scribner scale cutting dugfir out west. So say they pay us $4k, for a log load, they could be selling up to $12k from the same logs.
