Any tips for using the Pro32 in a gym? I did two school events last weekend and though they sounded ok the sound dropped off significantly more than normal at distance. I didn't want to crank them to prevent echo but want a fuller sound. I had them on each side of my booth pointed outward about 30 degrees each to cover the whole gym. I setup on the wall in the middle of the long side of the gym so there would be less distance each speaker would have to cover. Based on how it did seemed like a good idea.
@AaronStrawn
@AaronStrawn 2 жыл бұрын
I think in general, gyms are tough to cover. If everyone is quiet and sitting and it's a performance, they probably would be ok, but those high ceilings and hard floors are just sound nightmares unless you can get up really high.

@@cduemig1 in big crowds I would typically spread them out to about 20 ft min apart from each other to avoid cancellation so that the sound could travel farther. Also depending on how many people are going to be there I would lift them about a foot off the ground. On the subs keeping them stacked together is preferred but difficult cause the sub match cable is to short I have also tried 1 pro 32 with 2 sub2s with about 250 people and it performed better than expected just looks weird. But I understand ur point
@cduemig1
@cduemig1 2 жыл бұрын
@@nyoandricky I noticed the same thing about the sub match cable. I suspect though it’s intentional. The Sub2 crossover is 200Hz. Above 80hz sound is more directional so if the sub2 was away from the speaker the higher Sub2 frequencies might not sound right so they intentionally keep it tethered close. I’ve got a pit of SRX18’s I considered using below 80hz but it’s not easy to integrate them and a big pain to bring Sub2’s and those. I’m toying with making my own 10”driver for 80-200hz and integrating a standard sub or Sub2 with that. More thought needed for that project.

I understand it the room and not the people. If you were doing JUST vocals say for speech would you still buy two? Im an auctioneer and looking for a system (Prefer Battery power) for benefit auctions where they dont have sound. Some dont have power. I dont need a ton of woofer just vocal clarity and ease of set up as we dont generally have luxury of preset ups. Just show up and go. I have had house systems go down before because often the event people really arent prepared and know nothing of sound systems. I always carry a portable hailer with me but it sounds like a old farm auction them. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If you prefer battery- I'd lean towards the JBL Eon One MK2. It's a battery powered column and with a wireless mic, you can get some volume out of it for sure. They have some at Guitar Centers. the column array has a 360 degree coverage so there is no reason to spread them unless you have a very very very large venue that you don't hear the speakers clearly on the far spot or your column array are too low to throw the noise so In my setup I put them over the subwoofer or stage that will get the column much higher as possible

@DidierWolfs
@DidierWolfs Жыл бұрын
@@AaronStrawn Depends on the quality of sounds each one would like. For example, I would never been happy with a pair of Evolve 50. Not enough clean bass when going low and loud. People are usually not bothered by a "loud" sound (not too loud of course), but will be bothered by an agressive medium/high or crapy bass when the sound is pushed. I use a Fohhn sound system with 15" subs + 12 tops and before these tops, I've had the LX150 column from Fohhn too. That is the only system I use, either for 50 or 300 people. I've handle 400 people outside and not a wedding but a NYE party. Just to say, that the number of people a column system will handle depends on how many people on the dance floor at peak time and the type of events and people. To entertain 200 people dancing on disco or country, is not the same than 200 on Hip-Hop or electronic music :-) But my vision is biaised, as I own a top of the range system and could not handle anymore to work with something that I can't push without getting distorsion. I also like more "hi-fi" type of system like the Bose 32 that you've use, but with 2 x B2 per column (which is how it's working best, but Bose does not talk about it, because people would not buy it because of high budget and finally not so handy to carry and install...)

I had JMIX 8 bundle too, worked pretty good but the honest, they did not sound very good in large room. They are quite ok with medium volumes, but when you crank it up to almost max before redlining, then its a whole other story. As their upper drivers are tiny and on quite high frequencies, then these high-s are spreaded far away in the room, at the same time mid and mid-bass is not so well spread as its on the floor and gets stuck behind people. So finally at the end of the day, in many of my events I heard some people people complaining why is there bass in the room but no music? It was because the woofers are on the floor and they also cover mid frequencies. Also these columns on J8-s produce very sharp sound IMHO, and they sound pretty sharp compared to the bass and mids coming from the floor. I decided to switch to HK Audio Polar 12-s which have a bit wider drivers on top and wooden cabinets on the floor - totally different story now. As a conclusion - yes you can use these for 300 people but the sound won't be very good as speakers are rather screaming when they are turned to max. The best sound comes when they are at their 2/3 of the maximum from my experience and the rooms ceiling is not too high. My Evox J8 always sounded best in smaller rooms around 50-70 sqm.

This all depends on where you live and other cultural habits. In some civilized areas of the planet you can cover up to 150 people if you are a DJ. With two Evox 8 or Evolve 50, or CS1000 for example. For a band playing for real it could cover up to 100 people. In less civilized areas of the planet where people like to lose their hearing on weddings you can cover up to 100 people if you are a DJ, and around 70 if playing live. With that being said this is only possible if a live band is mixed properly, otherwise if a monkey is on the mixer it can go much lower than that.

EV evolve has n mid range they sound harsh n clip out when pushed ...the maui 44 aint portable what is the point of that ....the 28 is better and the es 1203 is probably better or hk polar 12 but none are quite there yet ...all pap
