I actually don't think i missed a pig at all over these 100 reloads. However, one must take into account finishing off shots and general hunt scenario's like snap shooting, thick scrub running targets etc.

You're an excellent example of what a man can do with basic equipment when he knows his rifle and how to operate the damn thing. There's plenty of men out there with the best equipment money can buy, but they can't hit a damn thing with it, especially on the move. A nice rifle, nice ammo, and a Burris scope is all you need if you know how to swing it. Bloody good shooting!

Thanks mate yes it is all about the shooter (male or female) having skill n confidence to take the shot. Having said that i only close the bolt on a target when I know that I have a very high chance of an outright kill otherwise i just watch it dart through the bush and not chase it with hopeful shots. I prefer to toast those pigs that got away back in camp.

I thought I could shoot pigs but now I am humbled. Amazing skill and that rifle fits you well. Took me 4 years to get 50 hogs with 72% accuracy with 50 % moving at shorter ranges. 150 yards and as close as 70 yards. You are the hog slayer. Chopper hunting here in Texas doesn't count as hog hunting but it is fun. Fun is necessary when the hogs overpopulate which is every two years even with constant hunting. Keep up the endeavor.

Good shooting guys. Would there be any value in using a silencer? Do silencers decrease accuracy? Or are they illegal? Or would the ferals just scatter as soon as one goes down, regardless?
@HuntingwithStu
@HuntingwithStu 2 жыл бұрын
I think a silencer on a low velocity rifle like a 44 mag would be perfect as the pigs often are too busy feeding to worry about the odd muffled shot. However, stupidly Australia have a ban on silencers. God knows why as New Zealand are ok with it. I think because silencers represent hitmen in Hollywood then no one is allowed just in case we want to do a hit on someone. Makes no sense at all. I understand 30 shot mags, semi auto etc but silencers? Anyway we just gotta conform.

If I may ask, what rifle are you using? I know it’s a 308 from the projectile box but it’s a beautiful rifle and I’d like to get one myself now thanks to your inspiration:)

i don't know where in Australia you are, but do Croc farms take meat from Culling? i think it would be neat to go on a hunt like this the closest thing in NZ would be maybe goat culling, or shooting rabbits and it depends what part of NZ you are in for the concentrations of animals

i have looked at a load hunting vids and this one is the dogs dangly bits Proper hunting and shooting a sledgehammer load to deal with a right nasty bugger of a pig i think if i was with you i would have a 12B pump loaded with 3" SSG as a backup for close up brush work sod that one projectile lark that close up there's no room for error. What do you do with the carcasses do you transport them out or are they left for the dingos? i have a nice .243 with a 56mm scope a 10-shot mag and loads of ammo let me know when i can come and lend you a hand regards from the mother land

I like to see a rifle that has the bluing worn off in different spots. It makes me believe the person using it is experienced with it, and accurate. I saw the bullets were .308 caliber but what rifle is this? The cases look larger than a .308.

Reading the title I was thinking this will be another of those impressive American hunters with repeating rifles on bipod and night vision gear whose vids are amazing. Instead I find it’s a fellow Aussie with a bolt action shooting off the shoulder in a wobbly kayak no less! This is on another level! Just out of interest, how many more do you think you’d get out of these mobs if you didn’t have to cycle the bolt?
