The answer to all gun related questions is ‘You can have enough, but you can never have too much’

The only 2 times you can have too much ammo is if you are drowning or on fire.

When I was in combat we carried minimum of 7 mags . Minimum & that would be if we were out on patrol . Now that being said we had the ability to being resupplied. I can tell you for a fact 7 mags in a firefight goes pretty fast .

Your gun collection, ammo, and accessories should look like a gun store in volume and size. 😁

In a protracted gun fight you're not likely to live long enough to go through 6-8 20 or 30 round mags. For the long haul, avoiding combat at every opportunity (if you plan on living), store all you can. 12-20 mags are enough but be ready to load mags from stripper clips, which you'll never have enough of.

The number is infinite. Bans, thieves, fire, forgetfulness, trading, selling, or giving away can relieve you of your goods. Buy, buy, and buy more but always store in different places.

They will hold their value much better than money in a bank account.

I have my oldest three daughters living with me. I have two AR-15s and my oldest three daughters 16 17 and 19 they each have their own ar-15. I promised them if they had a 100% flawless safety record up to the age 16 I would buy them whatever AR-15 they want with any certain price range and I kept my word. Each of those rifles has 2,000 rounds currently as backup. 1, 000 of 223 for each rifle and 1,000 of 5.56 for each rifle. We have other weapons as well. This truly depends on logistics...offensive and defensive in shtf actual. Load out what you are absolutely comfortable and confident with having optimum speed and control.

For any 1 semi-auto pistol, I work with a bare minimum of 4 with the gun at all times, and would prefer at least 10 per pistol on hand. AR & AK and the like, 12 is a minimum, would prefer 24, all loaded with ammo, with as many as you can fit in a carry rig with a slung bag holding all the extras not in the carry rig. Also, have a few supers, like those 73/75 round AK drums and for the AR-15/AR-10's, a "60-ish" round drum "or quad stack", or better yet, a 100 round double snail drum for when you are at home and have to lay down suppressive fire with the intent of making your attackers want to rethink their attack. Also, a binary trigger just in case.

The best gun to have is any gun you can effectively use to save your life when needed! I am the weapon the gun is there to testify of my awesomeness!

*40* .. 30 round mags for my 2 AR 15's *15* mags for my Taurus PT99 (9mm) plus two *30rd* mags A *shit ton* of loaded *8rd* clips for my M1 Garand *8* extended 9rd mags, *4* 10rd mags for my Keltec P3AT plus *2* stock mags *8* for my Bersa Thunder 380 Plus (15rd capacity mags) And I'm working on increasing the mags for the Polymer80's *8* for the Polymer80's (G19) *2* for my Polymer80 (G17) but one of those is the *32rd* mag the Polymer80 (G17) is a part of my MCK Micro Home Defense setup

Couple different places have 5 packs of Glock PMags for a nice price. 17/21/27rd, take your pick. Also, 10 packs of AR PMags for $110 is pretty nice. I'm up to 48 Glock mags, mixture of Glock and PMag, and 75 AR PMags as well as about 40 GI AR mags. It's almost enough, but probably not.

Recently (2/24) 15 round magazines for the Hi Point 995 are about $22 and 30 round magazines for the Keltec 22WMR are around $30. Prices may be higher in some areas. Keep Prepping my friends.

Plus Consider the probability that in a SHTF scenario your magazines will break or get lost. There’s no amount of magazines you could have the more the better plus can be used to barter and will be worth a lot of money if they are ever banned.

Empty mags do nothing! It all depends on your ammo supply. At my local gun shop yesterday carrying a case of 223 i ask this guy how many mags he owned and he said 4! 4 i said if you can go ahead and grab a dozen mags to go with all that ammo you might be better off.

I grabbed a tactical mag can that holds 450 rounds of 5.56 rounds in the mags already loaded. It's a grab and go solution if I have to leave the property.

Very few things go wrong with magazines. So stock up on fewer mags, and double it up on magazine springs, followers, magazine rebuild kits are a 1/3 if that of costs of complete mags. However if your looking at a profit to sell then complete mags will be golden!

There are always magazines and ammo left over by the guys who lost the fight.

My thoughts.. Minimum 7 rifle mags and 4 pistol mags to carry. However I would say 20 mags for each rifle and 10 for each pistol at bug out location or wherever your “Alamo” is going to be. Much more if you can.

Simply ignore anyone who calls a magazine a clip they are not worth your time

I loaded an AR case with a Rifle & a pistol. I used 10 loaded 30 round AR mags & 4 loaded pistol mags. I wanted to see how heavy it was to carry. Not so bad. So I added a plate carriers, the Ar bag and a bug out bag. It was a bit much. I’m 6’-2” and 212 and lift weights. Hard to know how far I will need to go.

I guess I'm old any person i fought in combat...they are dead. I took all wepons and ammo always had moco. I feel strong about this ... no worries here....thanks ...go with God..just my thoughts

I think it will come down to how many you want vs how many you will use. The better shot you are, the less you will use. That being said, I don’t think you can have to much of ANYTHING that will protect you and your loved ones !

Imho, The bare minimum to keep any semiauto functional is 3. One in the gun, one reload, one in case something goes wrong with the first two or as a second reload. So, I try for 6 magazines for anything I don't actually shoot that much, I feel like 6 is the bare minimum to make something viable in case for example the manufacturer ever stops making them. So for my 22 pistol 6 magazines is fine. If you are going to practice with it often, compete with it, or defend yourself with it, you should double that again to 12 to account for damage and loss. If you lose a couple here and there due to people walking away with them or whatever you should still have the six and you have a buffer just in case. I think you should rush and get six right away, but you should shop around and look for a good deal for the next six but you should try to get them soon. For a rifle, honestly, if I have to bug out on foot, there's no way I'm realistically carrying more than seven magazines by the time I add all the other crap I have to carry with me. So I like fifteen as a good number just because it's a nicer number than 14. Same deal, get the first six or eight right away, then hunt for a good deal and get the rest to get up to 15. Or 12, 12 is okay. I think once you have this, more is nice, but imho you should wait for good opportunities and good prices and be opportunistic once you get this minimum set. Also, it's too expensive to buy lots of mags for everything, pick one or two platforms and stockpile for those deeply. For me it's the AR15 and the Glock 19. I probably have close to 200 AR mags and over 70 Glock 19 mags at this point, but I've done it over many years. When I see a good deal on them I buy a few.

These numbers make sense if you consider what LE/MIL usually carries, a police officer will usually have a magazine in their sidearm and 2 spare magazines for a total of 3, military normally issues between 5-10 magazines for their rifles depending on the situation (during training you may be issued less than 10). So having 6 pistol mags and 12 rifle mags is definitely a good start, there is no upper limit to how many you should have but there is definitely a minimum

If we are talking a real-life version of a SHTF situation, then the answer is---AS MUCH AS YOU CAN HANDLE OR AFFORD!! C'mon. Sh*t has hit the dang fan! If you don't want to be a victim, then be prepared to defend yourself for as long as it takes for society to return to 'normal'.

My gf doesn't shoot so i got about 5 each, she is proficient at reloading, so even 2 would be enough....lol

How much can you carry? It may come down to that...forced to leave your safe space (moving quickly), carrying food, shelter, survival gear, water, and ammo. A basic infantry load of 210 rounds (7 mags) gets dang heavy, especially with all the other gear and maybe body armor. I suggest it may be good to buy all you can reasonably afford for the good times, but be prepared to take ten or less with you if forced by the worst case situation to exit on foot, with only what you can carry (the typical scenario in war or major disaster). Feb 2024: I believe Preppers should have a minimum of 21 magazines for each rifle/carbine and a minimum of 12 magazines for each pistol. More would be better. Magazine will not last forever and a firearm without a magazine is a club. They will also make a great barter item. Keep Prepping my friends.

i try to have 7 per rifle. one in the rifle, 6 spare in a carrying system.

Think of it this way, by purchasing more guns and ammo we are keeping the manufacturers in business. So they will produce more. Walked into Walmart picked up a box of winchester 45 70 and CCI 22lr. Thats what I consider a good find. Usually can't find the 45 70.

I have at least seven for the more common weapons. I only have three or four for another because the magazines are expensive.

In a SHTF sit there’s no more need for Cred cards or cash. The new currency will be Food, Clean water, Bullets, Firearms and of course Magazines. Mags that work in multiple firearms are the best so Glock 9mm , Sig 9mm mags are best. AR 223/5.56 and .308 are best. Pcal mags per person u should have 10-20 mags of each type (not including mags you use) , to trade with. Same with AR/AK mags. Cigarettes and Alcahol and various Drugs will be valuable as well. Most valuable will be Prescription antibiotics. Second prescription drugs - narcotics Mags for Glock are $10 each and $15-20 for AR/AK . The advice in vid is good.

Way I started and still do . I buy at least 2 mags and 200 rounds wvery paycheck . And with ammo i got what i keep at all times . And as i get new i rotate out old with new . And talking cliton your going to scare the young kids .

I think Preppers should have a minimum 21 mags per weapon, 1000 rounds of ammo per rifle, 500 rounds per pistol, 500 rounds per shotgun and 10,000 rounds of 22lr. Those are minimums.

All this info is good, but if you have maybes two years in the infantry, that will do you a lot of good ,Marine infantry we carried 4 Mags , in combat they doubled that to 8 . with tons of Mags ,you have to have pouches, having a shit load , you can't carry them. Also the Infantry warload was 8 mags, but you were with 40-50 other Marines that had 8 mags ! Luck to all. It will depend on who your up against, professionals will probably overrun you quickly, because of thier tactical advantage , marauders ,you have better survival, because they will be untrained assholes expecting Grandma as easy pickings, and not prepared fo ANY determined resistance.

Handgun magazines and rifle magazines are not the same. Handgun magazines I'm not disposable they can be repaired and reused. Rifle magazines were meant to be disposable ask anybody who carried an AR-15 in Vietnam. Magazines are like ammunition you can never have enough. I've got more magazines that I can ever use in my lifetime for my rifles shotguns and handguns especially.

I live in Massachusetts. Unfortunately we can only get 10 round magazines unless preban for handguns. Debating on selling preban if we follow California and they lift the high capacity ban. Unsure what to do! If Massachusetts follows California than the preban magazines I paid a shit ton for will be worthless

When all hell breaks loose capture every gun and ammo possible. Kill the enemy with their own weapons and bullets if possible. But have enough in your arsenal to make a stand. Something that's completely and wholely overlooked in shtf and preparedness videos is the need for Bibles and Biblical scholars. It will be more needed than bullets, beans, or bandages. I have plenty of guns and ammunition. Don't overlook Bibles. It gives communities rules to live by.

I agree Chris Kyle from American sniper said his minimum was 300 rounds and he used 308, 300 win mag, and 338 lapua. I just wonder how 40 round pmags fit in a vest and if 300 blackout pmag would also work with .223/5.56. I have a D-60 drum magazine but Beta Mag makes 100 round 308, 5.56, and 9mm. Drums are not good for storing or reusing/reloading because some brands have serious reliability issues and you would have to drop them or have a large pouch. Large magazine are good for heavy fire or if you all of a sudden have more than one target to shoot out of nowhere.

My father died after waiting for SHTF from 1940 to 2002...... I have been waiting from 2001 to today 2020...... I'm 56 and will die before the SHTF...... and my son will wait from 2020 until he dies in 2050...... It's all a way to screw people to sell them shit !

Remember if you get chased out if your home there goes your stockpile. And have any of you actually carried loaded mags with you all day every day? Up to you to decide what you are willing to haul around vs what you reasonably need. 3 guns and 500 rounds of ammo and most people could not even outrun a mob from a nursing home. Shit gets heavy and hauling it around gets old.
