Regarding contact speed: most watts go into pushing air. If you cant ride 55kph with no wind, then you cant ride 50kph into a 5kph headwind. Why not test at 45kph, which is more representative of the average contact speed you see in races?

Joey, with IM now implemneting all these contra illegal watts savings by maximizing aero hacks, is this testing on this vid now irrelevent? You do have the cuteest sarcastic laugh!! Woohoo! All the best! One question Joey, you motivated me and i gots me a bike like yours, it is SWEET! But it came with the standard issue base wheels (The vision 35 disc brake), they are nice and wicked quick, but I ask you what pair of "RACE WHEELS" would compliment the Sweet Tri frame? and do remember I ain't got a "BUTT LOAD" of money like you do, I just want to finally do a Sprint Tri since getting into this endeavor 2 and half years ago, every year for the last 2 1/2 years i have said to myself that I would do a sprint tri, but at the last second i coward away from participating, maybe because I don't know how to swim? might be a major reason, but than I rationalize its only 750m long, the swim that is! But what Aero Race wheels within reason budget wise do you recommend? thanks, all the best! GG! And what power meter do you recommend? My goal this summer, If i muster the courage to do my first sprint Tri, I will want to produce 488 watts for the first 10 km of 20km bike course than gradually lower down to 29o watts for the last 10 km, which i believe that would give me a decent 20 km split for the bike section! Have you tested the effects of reach on aero Joe? Id have thought knees and elbows closer would bring gains, however there may be other advantages of longer reach that off set this? Great video, thank you!

@@user-et4cs1zy4z yeah they have banned that and camelbacks etc. my bottles over the arms might be banned but the rules aren’t clear as to whether they definitively are or aren’t at the moment.

I'm curious how they draw the line between different setups. What they write is so blur that any BTA bottle setups can be banned because it is not specific enough. Section 5.03 b) Protective screens, fuselages, fairings, or any other devices or materials (including duct tape) added or blended into the structure with the intent to reduce (or having the effect of reducing) resistance to air penetration are prohibited. Aerodynamic assemblies and protuberances on the head tube or elsewhere are prohibited; (DSQ) It clearly states 'head tube' in the last line. Profile Design Aeria Hydration does exactly that. There are some other companies producing these products too. I assume they will be allowed. Then what is the difference between these and Evolve Aero above the arm aero bottle mount.

The argon bike mate is fantastic I certainly wouldn’t say the specialised bike would be any quicker. The main thing is what position you can get on it.

Too bad ironman made the sport even more unpopular and elitist by banning tape and bottles. Now you'll have to pay thousands to the carbon fiber gods and buy integral hydration super bikes.
