I've been to a workshop given by Marcos and it's a privilege to see him paint live. Talking to him, I could see that in many of these wonderful watercolors, what we see, are the result of several attempts and studies on the same theme, that is, he does the same painting several times, with this he will realize what works or not, until reaching this result.

As a Brazilian, I'm very proud to see Beccari in one of the best watercolor channels on KZfaq. If I recall correctly, Marcos also had a podcast about philosophy. Very smart guy and a great painter. Thanks for this video. Greetings from Brazil.

Think you can go into more detail about layers? I tend to overwork wc by layering. Would love to limit by 2 layers or so. Though it seems like pre planning is very important for pulling it off well

Unbelievable work! Amazing! I note he uses depth of field to get his photorealism, ie a relatively small area in the focal point is sharp focus and bkgd and foreground blurs. In the sandwich shop painting I think the figure in the bakgd let’s the painting down, it’s too naive compared to the sandwiches and the guy etc. His cats are just incredible but I still claim territory on three legged ones!! Thanks so much for introducing us to another incredible watercolour genius.

This artwork reminds me of reading your book on shading, about 1 years ago. You wrote one of the best books on the market, very well documented and that alley shaded in half and light on the other half to show the shadow strength was the perfect image. I've read it very carefully to not miss a detail from it. 👍👍

Just amazing work 👍 interesting to see he paints on Baohong pro watercolour paper. I really like it and also buy their cheaper Academy paper when it’s on sale, makes it much more affordable to get that brush mileage in 😅

I’m interested to know how many of these paintings with short depth of field start as photographs, since that’s a photographic effect? If they don’t, it would be truly amazing to simply pull that out of your mind. And if it DOES start as a photograph, does that diminish it as a work of art? I’m wondering how you feel about that?

I believe he puts a lot of effort into working with models, taking great photos and then painting from them. And I think it doesn’t detract from the painting, to the contrary! He’s responsible for the ENTIRE artistic process, including the photo (:
