Enjoyed your reaction. I REALLY got into Metal, when I was 15 years old. It was Summer of '86 and I was on vacation with my Mom in Burlington, Ontario. The whole time I was there, I hung out with these metalheads. All they listened to was Sabbath, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P., DIO, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue etc etc etc. From there, I never looked back. Metal became the dominant force/music that would flow from my "ghetto-blaster". Much to my Mom's chagrin. LOL. I heard of and read about Metallica in magazines that I bought back then. Metal Edge, Metal Hammer and RIP. But had never heard them. Until 1989, Much Music "Power Hour" had a Canadian debut for Metallica's first EVER video(they had never officially shot one up until then), "One". With our host JD Roberts(last I heard, he was an American news anchor on CBS I believe). Once I heard this song, I was hooked! Next day, I went out and bought ALL 4 of their then albums, at Sam The Record Man in the Carlingwood Mall. I have seen them in concert twice(some shows I missed because I couldn't get out of work), definitely wanna see them AGAIN. Anyway, happy to see that after 40+ years. They are still kickin' that A$$! Looking forward to April 14th and their new album. You have a new sub! Keep up the GREAT work! 🤘🤘🤘

Hopelessness and dispair (darkness) breeds temptation Giving in to temptation creates more darkness. Its a never-ending cycle. Even if you hide your eyes or shield your mind there is nothing you can do to escape because the temptation is already inside of you. You can't resolve it on your own. You can never make yourself clean enough to keep temptation away. You have to seek help outside of yourself. Temptation leave me be!

The other way the lyrics point it as If Darkness had a Son, Here I am. Temptation is his Father and Darkness is the Grandfather as Temptation leads to Darkness which leads to him and the Other way it could be viewed is Temptation is Father meaning Darkness is his Mother as they can both go hand in hand.
