When it comes to food and drinks, Mexico remains supreme 🫡🇲🇽

I suddenly don’t feel special anymore when I was the only one drinking modeló at my local bar years ago, now everyone is drinking it 😂

My dad was one of the hundreds of layoffs from Grupo Modelo back in 2008 when it was sold. It was horrible, workers were really, REALLY loyal to the company and believe it or not, many workers died as an aftermath of the layoffs, they got severe depression and many ended up dying from heart attacks and diabetes. It was a great company to work for, now it's an ok company. Of course they lowered the salaries once all the loyal workers got laid off.

Honestly if you like Modelo you got to try Pacifico, Dos XX, Sol, Victoria. They are all great beers 💯🇲🇽

I think it is so crazy how much of Mexican culture has intermingled with American party culture to the point where there are fairly few differences. I mean if you go to a party you will find Mexican beer, tequila, chips and Guacamole, it’s all there!

I hardly drink beer but once in a blue moon I do enjoy a Bohemia.

There’s a small Texas town that makes such a fine beer called Shiner Bock but when it comes to king of beer, food and fun, México is at it’s finest.

My two cents.. i grew up With my dad drinking modelo in the 80’s in mexico.. there were already very popular back then, but was overshadowed by tecate (at least in the north of mexico, sinaloa where i live), Now pacifico and modelo are pretty close to tecate in sales. Modelo is special for me :)

Mexican beers have always been better in quality, taste, and variety. It is just that the US is late to the game with global foods and beverages. My favorite is Modelo Negro and Bohemia. Coors and Budweiser will never touch my lips... My first mexican beers were enjoyed 55 years ago.

I had a mexican classmate in college, I still remember she said they don't drink Corona at all because they have better beers than that one, and I can see why

I'm a Coors man myself, but I have nothing but respect for Mexican food and mexican brewers.

Modelo Especial is ok. But one of my newfound Mexican favorites is Bohemia Vienna style. You don't find it in the States. Osadía out of Atlixco, Puebla is quite good too.

I'm from a small town in missouri and when I joined the army I met alot of Mexican folks who turned me on to modelo so I've been drinking it since 2006, of course back home I used to get made fun of for drinking Mexican beers that was until bud light because the international gay man's beer lol

I've always been a Mexican beer fan, Corona, Modelo, Pacifico, and Dos Equis. I just buy what I like without much thought, only time it really crosses my mind when I'm celebrating the 4th with a Corona😂

Modelo has been my go to for at least 10 years. It’s called quality.

Fun fact some beers taste different in different parts of mexico even if its the same brand (the rumor is it has something to do with the water they use to produce it) and depending on what part of Mexico you are at, some beers are very popular and some not. In the north Tecate is very popular but if you go central or southern Mexico Carta Blanca is the way to go, in Sinaloa Pacifico or Victoria are the favorite ones, at least thats my experience. My favorite ones are Indio, Tecate Roja, Carta Blanca and Pacifico or Victoria. Modelo is good but i have never seen a boom of popularity here, i see it more of a restaurant beer (if that makes sense)

Simply put, the country of Mexico is the only country in Latin America to have successfully blended the best of ancient Native American culture with the best of Mediterranean European cultures of Spain, Italy and France, which gave birth to the magnificent food, music, enviable cultural traditions and wonderful colonial palaces and cathedrals. With Mexican cuisine being Native American in essence, and also being named World Heritage by UNESCO, together with the breath taking Mayan and Aztec pyramids, it is no surprise that Mexican beer reigns supreme around the globe. 🇲🇽

I never was a big beer drinker. Occasionally I'd buy a 24 pack of Killian's Red, Miller Genuine Draft, or Corona Extra. But this past February we went on a cruise to Mexico and I had a Modelo Negra. This is now my preferred without a doubt. Though I'll take Dos Equis Ambar Especial also.

I never tried Mexican beers until I went to Puerto Vallarta. I knew I didn't care for Corona so I ordered Pacifico. I still don't drink all the time but if I somewhere where it's hot and I want a ice cold beer and don't want to feel sick afterwards I grab a Pacifico.

It was just a matter of time. I was born in the US and lived in Mexico for half my life, after being old enough when I went back to the US and tried the beer.... Dang 90% I tried sucked major butt, they taste horrible. Mexican beer is fucking great, there is no competition tbh.

Im an mexican architect and i actually work for constelation brands by building a beer plant here in sonora, mexico. Since always the dominant beer here in mexico and almost all of the north states was TEKATE by Moctezuma Group, but Constelatiln is Pushin so hard to enter the local market, they even sponsor the local baseball team

I guess there was no building a wall for this beer.

My favorite beer among the global brands ended up being only two Modelo and Miller High Life.

You forgot to mention the most important moment, when the internet started to make "modelo time memes" back in 2018. that's what really drove the spike in sales.

Beer rocks. But water scarcity sucks. In Mexicali we had to fight Constellation Brands to prevent them from building a mega-brewery that was going to drain the city. Mexicali is a city in the desert that already faces water scarcity. We thought it was an impossible war to win against such monster corp. But by the end of 2017, the company decided to move the brewery somewhere else. This situation changed me. I still enjoy beer from time to time, but I also think more of all the dangers that involve the rise of such big corp.

I am Mexican and I live in Monterrey and a taxi driver who worked for Corona for many years told me what was the secret that Corona did to win the American market and what he told me was that they had put up in some bars of the most prestigious universities in the US their beer like yale, mit, harvard and some shareholders said they would lose money by doing that but the one with the idea said but that in the future people with more prestige will prefer our beer and that in turn will generate greater popularity in the future and apparently yes It worked for them, that was the real secret of the crown brand

As a Canadian, Modelo is pretty uncommon in bars and restaurants here. Corona is everywhere, even divebars in the ghetto, but i never see people drinking Modelo.
