Scottie said this to MJ during a workout when Kobe first entered the league: "there's a new kid plays like you, walks like you, talks like you, he even sticks his tongue out like you"

Not a trash talk but that's why I put Jordan over Kobe. Jordan was so far ahead of his time that his skills were used on a younger generation and still propelled Kobe above the rest. That being said, just because you can do someone's moves doesn't mean you can be as effective. Kobe deserves to be in the top 1% of basketball players in the history of the game.
@rayh.3478
@rayh.3478 4 жыл бұрын
@@the83rdtrombonist60 I do agree MJ is the greatest of all time! especially the physical game that it was in that era... and Kobe took off from exactly where MJ had left off, I respect Kobe not because of 81 point game, or how good of a game closer he was... but having the same kind of mentality and just as competitive as MJ, something pretty rare to see these days. and when you earn the respect from MJ, that's good enough with me and as a father myself now I respect Kobe even more for the kind of loving father he is! .... just sad man!

@@the83rdtrombonist60 yup. I found it kind of stupid when people ridicule Kobe for stealing Jordan's moves and game. Sure Jordan was much better, but they are both kind of the same player: 6'6, shooting guards, scorers. You don't see people ridiculing big men for basically all being the same and playing the same way: Shaq, Wilt, Russel, Olajuwon, Ewing, Mourning, David Robinson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, etc. So Kobe playing like Mike is just normal. Just being able to play like him and do his moves and all is in itself impressive and an accomplishment very few can even replicate.

Jordan saw Kobe as a son to a degree. He saw himself in Kobe that’s why he helped him so much. Phill Jackson brought a 18 year old Kobe to meet Jordan and Kobe told him you can’t guard me. Jordan laughed and said you can’t guard me. Then later on as they were leaving Jordan told Phil Jackson I love that kid.

Kobe relized he had to be like Mike to be as good or better than Mike. He took that jumper and he made it his own. You never one time will mistake Kobe and Jordan. Both are very unique and noticable. He probably used those moves because thats (in kobes mind) probably the best player to have ever picked up a ball. He was probably more than honored to be compared to Jordan and after seeing his skill set i can promise Jordan wasnt ashamed to hear that. Kobe ALWAYS gave 145% no matter what. In the playoffs his teammates said he was first one in the gym at 3am and last one out at 12am EVERY SINGLE DAY. The pressure of being in the playoffs is enormous. He was only getting at max 2 1/2 hours of sleep a night(thats 17 hours of sleep a week where a normal person is getting 56 hours a week) and still went hard in the mfing paint nd set that big of a name for himself

Kobe and MJ are the same dynamic. As this video shows here, their game was to use their legs to create the amount of space needed to put up shots, and their work ethic allowed them to make some amazing shots: fades, under the bucket, through traffic, etc. LeBron is an arm and force dynamic. He is more likely to get you to close, that when you try to make a move he can step out or push away to make his incredible shots. Just looking at these 3, I would say they are the top. I am not going to say one is better when it is a team sport and teams make or break. Stats and titles only highlight performance. Wins highlight achievements. Fans highlight icons.

It’s simple. The only reason MJ says Kobe deserves the comparison is not because he copied his moves or plays the same way. It’s because Kobe had the same determination and drive and Michael saw in him and it reminded him of himself. I’ve seen other athletes from Jordan’s time who said that Michael didn’t pay attention to anyone or give anyone the time of day if he felt like you weren’t worth it. I guess Kobe was. And that’s saying a lot.
