Considering 1:1.5:3 ration is by Volume; *You said Air Voids and Volume shall in crease by 54%* But if fine cement and water take up space of Air Voids (means Cement and water fill up the Void Spaces), then Volume must DECREASE Why you said Volume will INCREASE?? Please explain

I understand the one, two, three mixture. depending on the size of aggragate the three is subject to be more or less. I mean one using 3/8th vs 3/4 would need twice the amount, thus the three would be six. The process of doing an exposed aggragate of 3//8th is considerably slower process than using a total mixture of one, two, six. In either case make sure the aggragate has been cleaned until the water runs clear.

How many cubic feet of aggregate will be required to make two feet 25 meters of concrete 3 inches thick?
@ganesanrawaswamy8707
@ganesanrawaswamy8707 3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, the calculation is wrong. The volumetric ratio 1: 1.5: 3 is at the dry stage. when added with water the voids in sand and aggregates get filled with water . The volume of resulting wet concrete mixture will be 1 + (1.5 x 1.2) + (3 x 1.34) = 6.82 Cumt for the dry 1 + 1.5 + 3 = 5.5 Cumt volume of the dry mixture. Thus 1 cumt of wet concrete will contain (1/6.82)= 0.147 Cumt of cement, 0.220 Cumt of Sand and 0.807 Cumt of aggregate. Thus for 1.54Cumt of wet concrete, it will be 0.226, 0.339 & 0.678 respectively. For your review please.

You are right, but void is filled with water, difference between wet and dry concrete is volume of water. It is already considered as negligible for costing.

Sir, Just curious. If the void ratio of sand is 20%, and the aggregate is 34% then the volume of sand should be 80% and the Aggregate 66%, "multiplied by the ratio" of each. that means 1+(1.5x.8)+(3x0.66)= 1+1.2+1.98=4.18. Just my opinion. Thanks.

Good day sir Why you use vol. Of cement in calculating vol. Sand and aggregate? Thanks you in advance
@mwafrikka
@mwafrikka 4 жыл бұрын
Because everything is a ratio of cement as the binder. Even water is a ratio of the cement. By the way, best practice is using weight as opposed to volume, but it tends to be cumbersome on a job site so vol is used as a rough substitute.

@paulmaposa
@paulmaposa 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dhananjay , this task is predominantly done by the helpers, the role of the mason/bricklayer would be to mainly to supervise ensuring that the measurements and mixing are done right. This he has estimated as needing 2 helpers for full day and 10% of a day of a mason's time hence the "0.1 Mason".....

Where did the 1+1*54% come from
@engineeringmotive6669
@engineeringmotive6669 5 ай бұрын
When concrete is mixed, it undergoes a reduction in volume due to factors like the inclusion of water, which is necessary for the mixing process. The 54% addition could account for this volume change, converting the dry volume to the expected wet volume after the concrete mix is prepared. This adjustment ensures that the calculated rate covers the actual amount of concrete needed for a project, accounting for the increase in volume during the mixing process.
