I have one from an air conditioner that's the same shape but it's about four times the size of your average refrigerator compressor so I'm curious to see what happens when I cut it open tomorrow morning

Thinking of getting a plasma cutter to open the compressors, I have seen a very reasonable one with a built in compressor...but it will only cut through a max of six mil...any idea how thick the average casing is? Cheers!

There is no way to know except if its written on it .. but i dont saw aluminum in compressors before. only in converters and some motor,

Many aluminium wires is inside a vacuum cleaners.. have a nice day. It is coloured alu as copper color. More info is in my scrapping channel

You can’t , if it aluminium chuck it all in the steel bin ,not worth the effort for the value of the metal.

You can tell if its copper or plated aluminum by scratching it with a metal file. If you see silver then its aluminum, turn it in with other electric motors to be shredded. I've taken the time to take out the wire to put in my aluminum bin, but I ended up making less money

Dude, I love messing with copper , it's my favourite scrap, it's almost therapeutic to spend an hour after my work , stripping some cable etc.... But please please, don't use one hand to stabilize the item and one hand to operate the angle grinder, or you can easily end up with just ONE hand. A colleague lost his Thumb entirely in a side cut , completely off . I have seen other savage injuries too on legs and arms Please enjoy the hobby and keep your limbs where they belong. 👍👍

I found the weight ratio is 1/10 from the motor to copper. If the motor is 20 kg the copper is 2 kg maybe

Hi. In some country the compressor worth more than the copper because they fix it. And the copper is depend on the compressor size. In this small one have 1 kg worth about 6-7 $ on most countries. And it is not easy to extract the copper in home.😊😊 So you can decide .. thanks for asking.
