HOW MUCH? Days of Delay in Montenegro.

The day started well as we explored the old town of Kotor but of course we had a tyre issue to sort before entering Albania, so we headed for the tyre shop.
A quick fix turned into days, followed by even more time and money... Spitting my coffee out as I again ask "HOW MUCH?" reminds us of the costs of running an overland truck.

I think you will be happy with the Conti MPT 81, have them on my truck and they are fantastic. Have them now for about 20.000 km and they look like new. Smoot ride, super grip and not so loud.

Montenegro looks great guys👍. Thanks for sharing that with us. Glad you got the tyres sorted and feel your pain, bit of a pocket drainer😩. Have you ever looked at fitting aircon in the habitation area on Tonka? Keep cool guys, that pool looked just the job👍.

Cheers John, indeed but needs must. We'll definitely be fitting A/C to the hab area of the new build, I think for long periods of extreme heat, especially in the America's it's a necessity. Thankfully it's cooled down now 🙏😀

Montenegro is awesome and Albania is fantastic - head over to Lake Ohrid on the N Macedonian Border - amazing. On the N E Coast some amazing off-grid camping. All OK Speak to the locals but the police cruise by to check you are OK and safe - fantastic country. Sarander not so good - very touristy - or touristic - a word I hate as not English but one use all over Europe. Have a great time

Hi and thank you, been up to Theth and working south as we have a family meet-up in Corfu. We'll then return to Albania and explore the south east, through Ohrid and into north Macedonia, Serbia. Looking forward to it, more so as it'll be out of season and hopefully a bit quieter 🙏😀

Although it's a big cost, better safe than sorry. Feel your pain with the heat, especially when you after confined to a small box, but the river looked refreshing.

No problem, we absolutely genuinely love Turkey, we visited early last year and again late summer. There's so much to see there and the people are the kindest and friendliest we've ever met anywhere. 🙏😀

shame it was so hot for you guys while you were delayed getting your tyres, (I've just messaged you with a device you need to keep cool and a happy Izzy). Whilst watching I was wondering how much the tyres would have costed and in my head I thought about £1k each, so when you finally shared the cost, I guess it didn't sound too bad. That said, still a costly spend, but worth it to keep you guys happy and safe on your travels.

Hi Michael, thank you and yes an interesting device, neither of us had come across it before but looks good (although yes, it's up there in cost). We'll hold off for now as it's cooling down, but we'll definitely fit a/c to our new truck. Re tyres; we got a little discount (200 euros) which all helps. Having a tyre pop on one of these mountain roads at speed, doesn’t bear thinking about🙏😀

Expensive week but safety first. About to get ours done on our new to us motorhome along with the cam belt. The heat in the UK is bad enough for me. Safe travels Dave

We had already made the decision to move to Continental HCS for our new build, they're a little bit more road focused so hopefully they'll last quite a bit longer. 🙏😀🤞

Ouch! I went to one piece 22.5 inch rims. Tyres are available everywhere and about half the price of 20". A good set of tyre levers and you can change them yourself. BTW it's 30* + humid here in NI - not normal 🥵

I know, seriously thought about it but hey ho. Truth is, after 25 years in the army and having literally changed hundreds of tyres in all sorts of conditions, I'm happy enough to pay someone (sometimes 5 euros) to change them. Obviously if I have to I will, clearly I'm getting smarter or older... yeah ok, definitely not smarter - just older 🙏😀

Running 2K a pop military mud/sand tires up and down the mountains in scorching heat and shocked they're done in 25k miles? time to get real? ... more over : on that truck, you don't need them .. ever seen any wood loaders carrying 20 tons of logs going up or down a muddy hill on them? just get some building side tires. cost 1/3 and last 3 times the distance...

Hey! 3700 Euros for four truck tires? That is about what you should expect. I mean, what is best price? I'd be shocked if it was under 3K Euros.

Hi Kev, we're all too aware of how much good tyres cost, it's more the fact we had to change all four. It's less than 2 years since with changed all five at a cost of £4500, that's pretty chunky sums of money for anyone. But if you'd like to contribute, I'd be happy to accept 😉👍🏻
