I get asked a lot how much did I pay to get the Hammer Performance 1250 kit installed? In this video, I'm going to break down ALL the costs that I incurred from purchasing the Hammer 1250 kit, the Dynojet power vision, installation and all the other costs.

I have the Hammer 1275 with a Mikuni 42 on my '96 883 Low. I did the kit myself with my own headwork and cams. I think all said and done it was about $1350 for the kit with Dynatek ignition plus $300ish for the Mikuni and jet kit to tune it. It was worth every penny. Bike pulls incredibly hard even riding 2 up. Has no problem picking up 5th gear at low speed all the way to 100+ mph.

Actually correction, the kit shipped was $1,097 from Hammer in April 2020.

@@6sillygtivr dang that thing must shred! If I could go back I would do the 1275 with all the fixings to eek out more HP. But then again at that point I may as well just get a new bike. Still debating this.

Appreciate the videos brother getting more and more knowledge from the man who knows even though I’m 3 years late. Been researching more and more. I don’t know if it’s because of inflation or what but the hammer kit has jumped 2x the price at $1,690 😮😮😮. The only one I saw that is near the price you paid was the S&S Cycle 1250 kit. Do you know anyone or anything about these? Do you still recommend Hammer in retrospect after not having the 883 anymore or another brand like S&S or H-D (they have the screaming eagle 1200 kit I saw)? Thanks brother.

Good production! Also, if you truly want to protect the investment and do right by the engine, this is what you do in regards to proper break-in protocol on a new engine or big bore: 10-40 Amsoil for heat cycling, absolutely no idling- ten cycles, then change oil! 20-50 for break-in, 50 miles - NO MORE - then change oil! 20-50 for 50-400 miles, then change oil! 20-50 for 400-1000 miles, then change oil! Redline 20-50 or 20-60 or Amsoil 15-60 for after the above 1000 mile oil change. From southern California - Ride Forever!

The only pro of 1250 Is that it’s cheaper, that’s why I went for the 1250. If I could do it over I’d go for the 1275 with cams and head work.

Hey man I had some questions: 1. Where’d you get the sissy bar. It’s sick. 2. Why did you go with the 1250 kit as opposed to the 1275? 3. Did you say you were in the Poughkeepsie area? I am in Jersey and have had the same issue getting some pricing for the install. Hopefully I’ll hear back from you. Greta video and ride safe !
@IronBornRider
@IronBornRider 3 жыл бұрын
Aaron Amorim hope this helps. Answers below: 1. The sissy bar is from a guy named Edward Richie and you can find him on Etsy. He makes great quality sissy bars. 2. Mostly cost related, I felt like the 1250 was going to get me enough power 3. I’m in Maryland near Washington DC. It’s pricey for the install, but I found a guy that started his own business and was giving some really good pricing. He was a tech for H-D for a while and wanted to branch out. He even came out to my house to install it and had all his own tools for the job. Good luck with the kit upgrade, make sure you get the power vision tuner or else you won’t be able to tune the bike properly.

I find that it smoothes it out and makes it really comfortable to cruise at highway speeds. I was doing 70mph on 4th gear at yesterday and I felt fine. I switched to 5th gear to make it even more comfortable and to lower the rpm. So my answer would be yes.

Another YABOB (Yet Another Blacked Out Bike) and a YABOT (Yet Another Blacked Out Truck) Are you CRAZY?? You spent more upgrading an 883 to a 1200 than it would have cost to just buy a 1200. Plus you would have gotten real 1200 gearing, and the resale value would be SUBSTANTIALY more. I would actually pay more for a stock 883 than for a highly modified 883/1200/1250 whatever. You never know whether the job was done right or not. Oh, and by using the 1250 kit with stock 883 heads, you also raised the static compression ratio, making it mandatory to use premium fuel. The next owner may not like that. And will the 883 engine be a reliable and long lasting with the 1275 kit as it was stock? Something I would want to know if I was buying a modified used bike. I think you just shot yourself in the foot. You spent $2K to lower the resale value of a perfectly good bike.

Blacked out bikes/trucks/cars are popular for a reason. For me personally it suits my style/aesthetic but yeah it's not very original. I still like it. I have my reasons for going 883 to a 1250, but I can understand from your perspective. In terms of reliability, the hammer kit is as reliable as they come, haven't had any issues so far. Also had a certified harley tech install it, but its not uncommon for people to install it themselves as it's pretty straight forward from what I've read.

Gerald, clearly you don't "get it". Not everything in this world is about money or resale value, sometimes it's purely about maximizing the fun factor. For a lot of us, if we were that worried about resale value we wouldn't have bought a bike in the first place.
