How Much Did It Cost To Build the 450 WHP Subaru STI?

Well the time has come to make the video that hurts my wallet, Total cost of what I spend on the 2005 Subaru WRX STi to get her back up and running and making some sauce!
Keep in mind when going through this video that there is more than one way to build a car, and this is how I chose to do this one. Overall I really Don't think it was that bad compared to some other builds I have done. It definitely helped that I already had some parts laying around from older builds that I could use on this one!
Regardless I wouldn't have it any other way with this build, still has a long way to go but this is a good start to kick off the restoration of this STI. Always remember, save the Blob!

Great video and transparency about the cost. I recently had a shop rebuild my ‘13 STI Hatch after I heated up my crankshaft at a track day. I spent about $14K. Now my rebuild is as reliable but not as fast; I’m at 350 WHP, but this just gives an idea of my parts and added labor cost. No regrets: that power increase is absolutely noticeable from stock! But since the build is strong enough to hold more power, maybe I’ll upgrade the Turbo and Fuel in the future. Not everyone has the ability to pull an engine out of a Subaru but you do help an average guy like me understand and try some small things on my own: At least you saved on the labor! Thanks, again and please keep building and sharing!

Spent 26k on my recent build, brand new closed deck block and every single part in the engine is the best on the market. Running low boost right now to let the engine break in but made 510whp at 25psi and revs to 8000rpm but should be good for at least 700hp so I may look into nitrous or just upping the boost in the future. Only thinking about a 50-75 shot of nitrous to help lower temps because the higher the boost the higher the temps.

@zokusharuuku1091
@zokusharuuku1091 3 жыл бұрын
@@Smeedia Well I’m already running e85 only and the turbo I have won’t make 700hp which is why I’m thinking a little bit of nitrous would be best since alone it will just make decent power, lower combustion temps and even spool the turbo quicker. I went with the blouch dominator 5.0 xtr since my last build already had upgraded stock location parts and I’m running the grimmspeed tmic. I had the heads race ported, GSC beehive valve springs, +1mm valves, kelford high lift 282 cams, outfront ultra v3 block with weisco boostline rods, je 9.2:1 ultra forged pistons etc. it’s definitely a backwards way to go about it but I don’t want to have to rev the engine to 5000+ rpm before the turbo spools. Right not the turbo hits full boost at 4600 rpm and I’m hoping with nitrous in the future it will spool even sooner. I went for more response and reliability to make the car more useful for a wider verity of applications not just drag racing.

That’s a DAMN GOOD build there Tanner, that’s the BEST B-eye build I’ve ever seen. quick question and I KNOW you are sick of these type but I’d like your input. AOS, I’m about to get one for my 05 LGT, I’ve come across a TON of forums that say it isn’t necessary unless you are tracking your car. I’m not planning on anything like that I just want RELIABILITY, and keep this car going for as long as I can. I have the Cyl 4 cooling mod, Cobb AP, Cobb intake/air box, and Koyo rad. I already know the answer as yes but with me just wanting a daily, what am I saving with the aos installed in both short/long run? I just can’t get over how many people say it’s just a waste of money. So some help and explanation would be GREATLY APPRECIATED, thanks dude as always and look forward to your videos everyday. Ps. Can you get some Large Hoodies in stock, I accidentally got bleach on mine and want a new ☝️.
@Smeedia
@Smeedia 3 жыл бұрын
100% disagree, you'll benefit from having an AOS even if you just daily drive the car. Blow by will happen regardless and cleaning it up ad much as possible definitely helps. Keeping the oil out of the system helps keep thr AFR optimal and oil will denature the fuel. With you have oil vapor and fuel mixing it reduces the octane rating and increase the chance if knock events 🙏 Will try and get some stock ordered as well! Right now have the standard blaxk drive hoodoes in stock in large 😁

Back when I sold car audio that level of Pioneer speakers was my go-to for people that didn't want to spend a ton, good quality/price ratio. Their headunits are usually fire though. By the way, most likely all you need is a spacer ring to get those fitting and clearing the windows. Alpine was always my go-to for people that put a bit more emphasis on the quality and didn't mind paying more. I didn't like the design of their headunits as much but the quality was there.
