It's a shame at how large the pay gap is between London bus drivers and tube drivers. Very informative video Jak, thanks!

Absolutely fantastic content, very informative and it's nice to have a video like this to show people what you could potentially earn in the capital. Keep up the good work Jak

Great video and a shame you earn less than tube drivers yet your job is more demanding and hard.

I'm from Toronto, Canada and we get about 48k (about 75K Canadian) Most I made was 55K in British currency but that's with overtime. I don't do overtime no more and I have been doing this job for almost 20 years. Looking to get out as its becoming more difficult out here.

It is great being a bus driver! 🚦🚍🚏🚶♂️ The wages and conditions are slightly better in London, than the rest of the U.K.🙂

Thanks for the explanation. I knew Underground drivers earned more (not sure why there is such a great disparity), but why do tram drivers I wonder?

just wanted to know a few questions 1-How do you deal with tiredness while driving 2- is there enough leg room while driving 3- and how long do you wait after the end of your journey before you start another trip back
@busdriverjak1522 жыл бұрын
Tiredness, I normally have a nap on the stand break or at garage on a sofa, There's more leg room in a bus than a car. Normally have a coffee or nap

Hello sir,am about to join metro line as a trainee..how much do you think I could earn in my first year? Thank you
@trickifichd29394 жыл бұрын
Thanks this is really informative Im about to sign for Metroline. Do you get paid extra if a garage loans you because I’m supposed to start in Alperton garage but I’m being loan to cricklewood for 3 months.
@busdriverjak1524 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you will get a higher rate, I know some drivers do get a better rate if they are loaned as it saves company training drivers. Hope it goes, well pal. Metroline are a good company Ive been told

Eeerrrrrmmmmmm... don’t know if you’re giving the right figure my friend... New drivers will earn £370 after tax. Working only their contracted hours... New drivers can earn abit more by working longer hours... max probably £420 after tax but to earn £420 u need to work like dog... no disrespect Now old drivers do earn abit more £510 after tax.. and guess what the company wants to get rid of them, they look for opportunities to get rid them.. Point is why am I going to pay you £510 after tax when I can get a new driver who will do the same job for £370 after tax... Honest truth no one wants to be bus driver no more...
@busdriverjak1523 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear you bro, compared to train drivers, and team drivers we are on alot less, I earned 27k in my first year and I didn't do that many rest days, probably cos I was a spare driver and did alot of hours

@@busdriverjak152 Bro just imagine you are a 45yr old bus driver... and a stupid passenger decided to put a unnecessary complaints against you... that is a straight GDE and probably a final written warning... Now imagine a 45yr old men looking for another job.. who the hell is gonna hire a old men.. point is bus driving job is not a secure job.. u can lose your job any time.. You have an accident on the road.. U can lose your job plus u need to tell your own insurance company u had an accident... Long hours, treated like shit, forced overtime, you can’t even take a day off to see your doctor.. u need to beg the managers for a day off or show proof that u have a doctors appointment.. even after showing proof it’s not guaranteed u will get the day off... They beg for drivers, join us we will give u the world (bull shit) only thing they give is a free travel card which all bus drivers hardly use...

I don’t see why tube drivers get more. Bus drivers have to work harder and take on other issues. Tube drivers have it easy. They need to decrease the pay gap
@busdriverjak1523 жыл бұрын
So true, unfortunately can't see it changing
@user-vh3cx6xy3i3 жыл бұрын
@@busdriverjak152 something needs to change in the system. This can’t go on. If there was no bus drivers in London, The city would grind to a hault. Everything would suffer.
@EinkOLED3 жыл бұрын
More responsibility carrying far more passengers in a heavier machine. And people in London depend on the tube more than the bus. Also the training is far more stringent, higher bus wages will increase bus fares for passengers. And the higher wages will cause a demand in wages outside of London who are paid nearly 50% less.
@Jjsjsh2 жыл бұрын
Reason is because there’s no competition in the underground industry where there’s competition in the bus industry with different garages competing for routes
