This is a more fair perspective of Sosúa. There was a Karen that put out a video a few weeks ago depicting Sosua as a den of iniquity, crime, and sin . A totally negative perspective, and very different view of the town. Glad someone showed a different side of the area. 👍🏾👍🏾😎🌴

I left RD in the 90’ but already most sosua’s original inhabitants left the village in 70’/80’ when it was converted to one of the first resort town in the north coast. Everything has change, also Sosua represent the future of RD, a country with more Haitians then Dominicans. Not sure how is gonna ended but I’m shocked how everything has changed.. and for the worse in my opinion.

Jewish people came to Sosua from 1940, not in the 30s. The people you just spoke to on the bikes are not controlling anything, the guy just fooled you as he saw you as a potencial customer. He's just a "motoconcho" (a bike transporter) no one to be taken seriously. Better get a friend who has lived in Sosua for a longer time and you'll have a better idea of the place and its people.

I don't think the Jewish people built Puerto Plata after finding the island in the 1940's. Puerto Plata was founded by Nicolás de Ovando at the beginning of Spanish colonization, around 1502.

Las áreas de la playa Sosua va a ser totalmente remodelada . Sosua mo fue hecha por los judíos . Mi abuelo llegó a Sosua a principio del siglo 20 desde Cuba y ya existía muchas cosas .Los judíos llegaron después . La playa es muy buena , pero la ciudad debe mejorar . En Puerto Plata es mas seguro y hay más atracciones como ciudad . Pero las mejores playas están en Sosua

Brings back some memories, there is a small cove in sosua with a coral reef about 40 metres out to sea from the beach, superb scuba diving there, sosua is definitely better than Puerto plata , even though I've enjoyed my stays there too, if you travel along the Dominican highway for an hour and 45 minutes and go up into the mountains there are 7 waterfalls you can go up (with guides) these guys get you up the waterfalls and coming back down is a blast as the rushing water has eroded the rock super smooth creating natural water slides, further along the mountain on a different river is white water rafting with one of the waterfalls named mike Tyson which stands at 3 metres tall, a real adrenaline rush, samana (in between sosua and bavaro) is also a nice place to visit, especially for the whale watching and playa rincon (beach) is stunning, and yes, unfortunately being a tourist you are most certainly a target, as most of these people see you as pots of gold, however I've been drinking with the locals many many times and not had one single issue, even making some friends over there, Regards from England 👍

I have been to Colombia about 5 times, DR about 3 times, Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, Brazil, Guyana and you have to be careful in certain areas. Colombia has a lot of drugging and theft with prostitution but Brazil did not. I think his message is clear though, Be careful, watch your surroundings, and if you drink or have girls over, pay your doorman well so he doesn't let them leave without you.
