Guys a quick tip for electricity; there are certain time frames during the days when its cheaper to use electricity, for example: - From 8:30 am - 12:30 pm it´s kind of an "active hour", that means that during this timeframe electricity is way more expensive - From 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm it´s called "Valley hour" meaning that it'll be way cheaper - From 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm it´s an active hour again And from 8:00 pm - 8:30 am its night time; the cheapest of all. Keep that in mind in case you´d like to save some money. Not sure if that also applies to an appartment complex. For more info you can go to the official website of the "Grupo Ice" Hope this helps!

Hi guys, we are a family of four also living now 1/2 the year here in Palm Harbor Florida and also we do costs of living in the Philippines where we call our 2nd home. From your breakdown seems Phil is cheaper than Costa Rica but would be nice in traveling back and forth to be in Costa Rica instead of 8,000 miles away like we have been doing. We really enjoy the culture, kindness and respect we receive from the Philippine culture. Thanks for your perspective and video info, it helps us compare our situation. john

PS - i was hoping that realistically, modern amenities, etc...that for $30k a year, a nice place on the beach would be possible. is that too optimistic a dream to have?

Solar is an option but we've discussed in another comment. It's illegal to go completely off grid, you can only use 40 percent of your solar and you have to sell the rest to the electrical company as well us stay on grid. It take about 7 years to get your return on investment.

This is such a tough topic, because cost of living varies so greatly in any part of the world depending on your desired lifestyle! It’s nice to see others here who are not retirees living on a pension. We had so many comments on our video criticizing what groceries we bought and saying we could live much cheaper on rice and beans... haha
@TheDufresnes
@TheDufresnes 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it's all relative to how you want to live, yes we've cut out a lot of crappy food because it was about convenience when we worked so much but it's all about budgeting too. We've had people also comment on how it's cheaper when your not living near the beach which maybe it is a bit. Rice and beans are good but we like variety which is why we make different cooking videos. Plus we have room on our property to grow things
