Be careful! If you have a pacemaker don't use an electric blanket. The electric currant could interfere with the pacemaker. Safer to use a hot water bottle

I've had a pacemaker for 12 years and I've use my electric under and over blankets with absolutely no issues every winter and only this Tuesday after Sundays snow I had my check up and I passed with flying colours I even told the Dr I was going home after the appointment to put my electric over blanket his words were just keep it under bust level when I use it ...I dislike the hot water bottles as they don't warm all over or stay where I want it too where as my blanket covers toes to almost bust level

we have been using electric under blankets for several years and they are brill . flick the switch with no 3 setting for an hour before bed time and turn it off as even i got too warm . its just lovely to get into a warm bed . i have seen some with people sitting with one wraped around them but i think they are made differently because the ones for bed have to be flat . if there are any b. outs then the hot water bottle will have to do .

Most people spend 8 to 10 hours per day in bed. That's over a third of your life. So, use an automatic timer to turn off ALL your central heating about 1 hour before you plan to go to bed. The timer can also switch on your electric blanket as well so you have a toasty bed to retire to. You can even get king size blankets with different settings for each side to keep your partner happy. Your warm in bed, the rest of the house is cold, but, who cares ?.

Yeah a 3kw fan heater can warm a shower/ bathroom in 5 minutes so you don't need to warm the whole house when you get up just have a thick dressing gown and bath robe.

Had my electric blanket years and it uses minimal electric. I would recommend getting one that has sepereate sides and bottom heat just for warming your feet. But it's what you can afford. Obviously never have it on when you sleep. 15 minutes before we get into bed and we are all toasty 🙂

It's so cold they two of are cats are coming to bed. Tiny Ninja cuddles under the duvet with me while Sue gets GIANT MARVEL 😆 Harry lies at the bottom of the bed. Edit: P.S. Instead of spending on heating buy some thermals a Woolley hat few polo neck jumpers get a thick dressing gown and bath robe, my father used to sit in a sleeping bag watching TV, you could put a tent up indoors and put your bed inside it, make sure your quilt is especially big enough for the job it doesn't always seal adults in on a single bed.

Hello everyone. Have you read the new Net Zero Bill in Government? I've written to my MP and requested Bills be turned into audio so people who have been failed in school know what's going on. There are 9 Million Illiterate Adults in the UK because of State Education. Not only that the Bill and other Bills are so long people don't have time to read them. So if there is an audio Bill you can listen and multitask.

Back in the early autumn I invested in Lidl's fleece duvet covers - £11.99 for the single sets - and also have many fleece type blankets to supplement. Son was sceptical but was so glad when he got first use - its like an 'instant cuddle' and so cosy! He got 2 sets but I only had one in my colour choice - so I will have to go back to cotton when I wash them - poor old mum! Prefer a covered hot water bottle - no cover? a towel will do - would feel a little nervous using electric blankets especially if you have an 'incontinent' elderly or child just in case any wiring was failing etc - so turn OFF before retiring for the night. But all and any tips to keep warm very welcome and essential at this time of year - whether because of high cost of energy or just need.

Can buy a laser non contact thermometer to find cold spots around your accommodation about twenty quid, you can get draughts from electric sockets, light switches and light fittings you can fit gaskets behind the cover without undoing any wiring, I piggy back another set of curtains at the windows on the curtains I already have that go to the floor they're good at absorbing noise too.
