How much does it cost to travel to New York in 2024?
This budget is based on a stay of 7 days and 6 nights of accommodation, since I think 7 days is the minimum necessary to see the most emblematic places in the city.
Keep in mind that the budget I show in the video is something special since this was my 50th trip to New York, so I wanted both activities, meals and accommodation to be different from previous trips.
Although I detail it, here is the breakdown of some of the expenses that I list.
💰 How much does accommodation cost in New York?
In low season you can easily find a 4* hotel like the Hilton Garden Inn Financial District for €120/night for a double room for 2 people with all taxes included. If you want something more special, keep in mind that it will not go below €200/night and if your budget is tight, you can stay in a hostel in a shared room and bathroom for €50/night per person.
🗽 Save money with tourist cards in New York
If you want to visit more than 2 paid attractions, yes or yes I recommend a tourist card, you can save up to 50% on your tickets to observatories, museums, tours... in my case I paid $199 for the tourist card and I visited the Empire State, Edge, Top of the Rock, The Ride, MoMA, Museum of Natural History, Circle Line cruise and Rise NY, the total cost was $389.39, but as I said, I only paid $199, so I saved $190.39! almost nothing!
🍔 How much does it cost to eat in New York?
Spending on meals is 100% variable, it depends on each person, tastes and budget, you can eat a $1 slice of pizza as you can at the Eleven Madison Park restaurant that has 3* Michelin and spend $400 on their tasting menu. Between both extremes there are intermediate options for $40-$60, since dishes in restaurants easily cost $20-$30.
