What a lovely video, to explore the history of your music and how it has evolved. I have been a fan of Kikuo since I was 12 years old, and now I am 21 and still listen regularly. These songs give me life, and I’m so thankful you chose to use your life to create and share beauty with others. Thank you, Kikuo!! 🙇‍♀️

I'm kinda sad to know that Hole Dwelling was written during a time when Kikuo was so distressed, because that song brought me a lot of comfort. Anytime I felt super overwhelmed, I would hear this song on loop for hours. I'm glad that he is doing better now but I really appreciate his music that doesn't follows standard musical theory, as it makes his songs special. It's also a shame that Kikuo got exposed to Western culture late because I guess we dig darker songs more than what a general Japanese audience would accept. It's also a shame that his work got stopped and cancelled so many times : /

The fact that Kikuo hadn't even heard of a DAW and couldn't wrap his head around a chord progression 6 years into his career WHILE making music that good is absolutely mind-boggling to me. Absolute talent and passion right there

I'm actually so happy for Kikuo that he found success in music, even if nothing was going well for him he still had the willpower to keep powering through and keep producing music. That's something a lot of people are unable to do.

It's the way that Kikuo still continued making music even when his earlier works weren't well recieved that makes me look up to him even more than I already do. If that was me, I would've just cried and given up lol but I know that would get me nowhere

I think it's nice that Kikuo is open to speak about his mental health, especially since he's from a society that takes mental health too lightly. Seeing as to how some vocaloid producers or producers in a similar community constantly destroy their own mental health over making music, this openness can encourage such people to take care of their mental health more.

I honestly adore this guy. His music is phenomenal, and seeing how his music evolved over time to what it is today is just amazing. Kikuo you are a true musician.

きくおさんこんにちは。私は昔からきくおさんの大ファンで、それこそDTMの前の時代からずっと応援してきました😊（棒人間と言えば、その意味がきっと伝わることでしょう！）学生時代はMP3プレイヤーに夜霧の砂漠という曲を入れて聴きながら通った思い出があります。夜空のふりかけやCoffee Dope into the seaも聞いていました。勢いで、自分もReasonを購入してDTMに励んでいたのですが、きくおさんのような魅惑的な曲は到底つくれず、心からすげーなと思っていました。ボカロでバズった時も「うおー！来たのか・・」って感じでこっちまで嬉しくなっていました。これからも陰から応援していきます。

I am actually so impressed with how well he tuned vocaloids for someone just starting out. Compared to everyone else he had a unique way of making miku sound different from other producers.

Honestly, I was teetering on the edge of taking my own life back then. I was desperate to find something, anything to cling onto. I found your music by complete chance. It was dark and beautiful, I hadn't heard anything like it before. I thought I could hang on a bit longer to see what you make next. Even now I'm still clinging to things to keep me afloat, but it's different now. I finally feel that bit of strength and fire to keep going. Now instead of listening to your songs when I'm sad, I'm come to your songs when I'm happy. Thanks, kikuo.

Fuck fuck fuck this is too perfect. I can't believe Kikuo started out with a bomberman inspired hardcore beat. I wish Kikuo would do a new bomberman indpired song. I love the way the samples of the old SNES games sound and it would be a great callback to his roots!

In just the past 2 months Kikuo has made heavy strides to probably being the most outgoing and human producer I know of. Especially all of his work to make sure his American market isn’t out of the loop, I’m certain it’s not going underappreciated. Such a unique experience from this video that I don’t think I’ve seen from anyone else, it truly gives me a greater appreciation knowing that everything is mostly self taught and hearing the progression of how things came together.

ぼくの中学生時代を支えてくれたのきくおさんの楽曲でした。2012.13年くらいからずっとファンです。色んな曲を聴いても、やっぱりきくおさんに戻ってきます。復帰してくださって本当に嬉しいです。本当にありがとう。ソワカの声も鬼リピしてます。特に産声が大好きです。

As I sat on my bed cutting my skin I found myself scrolling on KZfaq and listening to Kikuo's music, this made my life more easier to live. Kikuo made my negative thoughts go away and make me feel at ease they also made my life have a purpose which is to look forward on the next music that they would post and vibe with it instead of taking my own life.

S, on the moon and yume no umi actually sound pretty good! They feel like the first foray into what would eventually become your style. I like them not /because/ they are your style, but because I think the other more "peppy" music you were making just didn't stand out enough and weren't unique. The darker songs sounded more interesting, and like you were experimenting and having fun creatively. It's great that you didn't give up and accepted and sought out criticism and kept perservering to make music! It must have been very difficult - I know I couldn't have done that. And I'm impressed you made sonna me and gomenne at the same time! They both became very popular with the dark theme, and it's great how over time you were able to shift to a more artistic and nuanced way of presenting dark topics rather than going for a sort of "shock value" by being blunt or explicit. I love your work kikuo and I hope you take your time and rest easy while creating music in the future

Holy heck I'm glad you got through dark times- But looking at your music evolution was just amazing, you grew so much! I don't know why but I started crying cause I was overjoyed maybe? You and your music are incredible! When I first listened to your music, it became a drug- and it still is. It's actually practically my life. They just make me feel- not dead anymore (since I was suffering at the time). We all love you and your music, and hope you stay healthy!

wow kikuo history this is super inspiring, seeing how many times kikuo was knocked down doing something he was genuinely good at doing, it makes me sad how everyone in the past treated his early works, very rude but he managed to take that criticism and better himself with it. its amazing to see how he is now compared to many years ago knowing that kikuo spent many years not knowing how chord progressions worked despite being a full time music maker is somewhat comforting, this says that its ok to not know how to do everything you should know about your occupation. like how many of us artists begin drawing randomly without taking proper classes and studies ive first listened to kikuo in my first year in high school (around the time i was leaving an abusive, toxic home and starting a new life in new home so my head wasn't in the right place to create art at the moment) and i still do today, i always turn his music on when i started making art again and it always put a smile on my face when i was upset, even the dark songs. kikuo has definitely earned the love he gets today

An artist's entrance into their next career arc is always dropping out of school. When people have enough resolve to do that I'm just impressed I'd rather have a degree and my own art career but damn when people go all out and it pays off I massively respect them But make sure to take care of yourself
