Here’s a deep dive of how much I make owning a subway franchise. I include the expenses and revenues to give an accurate description of what it will look like.

I owned a Subway Franchise back in 2008-2010 and I can concur with everything that you stated. If you own a store that makes under 7k in weekly sales you will never ever make any money only owning one store. I remember back in the day the Subway royalty was 8% plus an extra 5% for advertising. You basically have to own 3 to 4 above average stores (7K + in weekly sales) to make any substantial amount of money. Good luck my man and I feel for ya. My family was stuck in that horrible business for over 10+ years and we made absolutely zero amount of money at the end of it all.......

I was close to opening up a Jersey Mike's in 2014 until I realized that I could just open an independent one that I had 100% control over without having to pay any royalties or ridiculous franchise fees. I don't know how Subway's franchisee model works, but I would say get out of that contract as soon as you can and just go independent. You can make a lot more. I do about $10K/week during the summer months and the that drops to about $5K/week during the winter months which make it difficult to find good employees. But if you're doing $5.7K/week, you need to drop that labor cost in half. Labor cost is usually the biggest profit eater in any business, especially in food. Good luck to you.
@stown3082 ай бұрын

Franchisees are often people who have no idea how to source, market, or promote things on their own. If you can do that and have some way of handling the admin, HR, and legal aspects (because you will need help) then buying a franchise is a waste.

Yes you need to extort over 50 underpaid workers in order to be successful with this business model. Just think of it like this. If you have 50 employees and pay them minimum wage( yes even $20/hr) you will still be profiting at least $3-$4/hr off each of them. $150-$200/hr for just writing checks. Sounds like extortion to me. And if it all fails you can just claim bankruptcy and do it all again. Gotta love capitalism right. America the oppressor same old story.

His business plan was to obtain stores in an area that felt had future potential and then sell them a few years later for a profit. I think he owned 5-7 stores at a time. I remember him saying a lot of his buys were from people thinking they would make a lot of money being an owner/operator without realizing how many hours they have to put in only owning one or two stores.

I think you’ll get there! I love subways lol, especially the ones that are well ran. Besides the learnings are invaluable.

1:20 that right there. people see the riches at the end of the journey but never realize how much hard work it took to get there. keep at it young man. i’m subbed and gonna follow your journey.

the fact you turned a profit in under a year is amazing. for example, my construction company took 5-6 years to realize a profit. now 12 years in the business, our revenue is 25Mil, and my take home is 10%. also, a lot of tax deductions. my point is. keep at it. and never give up. especially when times are tough.

Excellent video! I applaud you for being a business owner and working for your future. And it’s great for people to hear that the “rich people“ business owners work their asses off to make ends meet while a lot of people whining about not earning enough just go home after work and chill. Winners sacrifice for success while whiners just whine.

It’s quite common where I live for new businesses to break even the first two years, not making any money. Then slowly begin to make profit and do better over time. That’s how it is for many people and it’s hard to stick with it for a long time. Best of luck to you, things will get better as you work hard and learn more. The right location is important. I’ve seen a couple of businesses go bankrupt because of the wrong location. I would also suggest doing cheap advertising for your business and where to find you. Hang up posters where most people are.

I hope you make it. Back in the 90s I dragged my father and I to attend a subway seminar about 4hrs away. Subway was the fastest growing franchise at the time. We visited many subways and sat outside and counted patrons. After about a month of DD we came to the conclusion that I wasn’t going to buy me a job. ROI wasn’t there for me and it appears based on this video that it still isn’t there. But OP I wish you the best and if you were in TX I would patronize you.

Keep going man. Don’t think of the $10 per hour that somebody talked about. Your building and buying equity and yourself and your business and all that does is increase overtime. Be patient and keep going.

Great video, thanks. You should make a video, if you haven’t already about how/why you chose Subway. What were the other contenders?
