The bottom line here folks is #1 When in the finance office the first thing you tell them is "I don't want ANY extras, No insurance gap or credit insurance, no maintenance extensions, and no extended service contracts" #2 Do your due dilligence, research the inventory around you on the internet, check true car site USAA or your credit unions car buying service, make these dealers call you and compete for your business. You will be surprised how much you will save. #3 Never walk into dealer blind with no idea what the cars or trucks cost and what the options cost. # 4 READ the contract CAREFULLY Know what you are signing! One more thing, NEVER buy a car without a thorough test drive. Would you buy a house unseen??

How do the 2WD Rams handle in the snow? There is a 4X2 Express that I can get a great deal on, I live in FL , but I plan on moving to the Carolina mountains. I'm guessing I would need a 4X4 to get through the winters.
@stuntcardriver5 жыл бұрын
My 4wd handles well in the snow. Even in 2wd the truck seems pretty stable. The 4wd Hi Lock shouldn't be driven over 50 mph. So in most cases 2wd works just fine on snow covered roads. 4wd works well for starting from a stop sign or back roads that haven't been plowed. A good set of snow tires and a few hundred pounds of sand bags in the bed would be a good option for a 2wd.

I went through the Costco Auto Buy Program for my 17' Silverado. Costco assigned me a local dealer. My research showed that Costco had a very good price without having to deal with all the silly games that salesmen play. The dealers appraiser figured they had a sale. So he offered 7K less then Kelly's said my trade was worth. When I asked why such a low price, he said that 62,000 miles were too high. I explained to him that I owned the truck for 37 months & the miles were from ordinary driving. I walked out and ordered my truck from the dealer that gave me 7K more and still honored the Costco price.

Leaving a deposit on a truck that they dont have ON THE LOT is your first mistake. Never do this. Tell them to get the truck on the lot, THEN I will come in and drive it and probably buy it. If you cant get it here in 3 days, then I will find one elsewhere, or make me a screaming deal on one that you DO have on the lot. BTW I recently bought a brand new 2017 Nissan Titan XD 4x4, MSRP about $38k, for $24k and change. It CAN be done. No trade, no financing. Walk in with money. Money talks, loudly.

Just a guess, but I'm wondering if the dealership was delaying the closing sale of the truck based on month and figures, and or dealership incentives from Stellantis or Chrysler whoever owned them at the time and maybe that was why they kind of drag their feet because they could sell that truck which would clear up some of the floorplan that they're paying for and then if they did get anything back from Stellantis or Chrysler with the dealership incentives offered if you sell X number of vehicles X number of days. Unfortunately you were taken for the ride during the process and there may have been some other factors such as whether or not that vehicle was already allocated to someone else or to another dealership. Had that been the case if the deal didn't fall through then you may have not gotten the truck you wanted for that $4500 discount. There's no point in trying to figure it out because the second you think you have it figured out it's something else 9 times out of 10. I didn't enjoy the whole purchasing a vehicle process either just for the reasons you went through. My situation was a bit different. There was 0% financing for 60 months or 72 months so I had to make my monthly payment and that all they could throw in on my 2017 RAM BIGHORN, THAT WAS BRAND NEW AT THE TIME WAS TO HAVE THE FRONT WINDOWS TINTED. I also got the tunnel cover for $800 I believe. There are some dealerships throughout the US mind you not many that have a no haggle pay the price you see in an out deal, which makes it a lot easier for buyers too. Feel comfortable when purchasing a brand new vehicle at a dealership.. these type of dealerships, sell new vehicles and their price fluctuates daily on every vehicle, depending on current market value Of other dealership pricing on the same vehicles in order to maintain a competitive price point. Rather than top seller of the month gets 15% commission and so on and so forth like most dealerships operate otherwise known as ruthless dick tactics in order to pad, their pockets. The other dealerships with a no haggle pricing simply offer an hourly rate or a salary rate to every sales person. in order to motivate all of the team members, the dealership offers and incentive if a certain goal is reached By one or all of the sales people. I'm sure that there's still another level after that top seller of the month gets another 5% etc. but at least it's fair across in playing field.. more importantly, it draws a lot more customers into the dealership when word-of-mouth is their best advertising asset regarding their harassment lol free Customer environment. if there was a dealership like that near me, I would go there every time and skip the headaches. I would rather drive my current vehicle to the ground before having to go by another vehicle just from what I would anticipate having to go through. Take care

Don't even think of going to that dealer again their business model is to confuse and upsell the buyer.. Always read online reviews of the dealer 1st. It doesn't matter who is closest find another dealer within 200 miles who will treat you right ant give you a good deal from day 1. Secondly I would worry about how honest the service department is at that dealership any Ram dealer can service your truck under warranty so check online reviews and get a dealer with highly rated service dept. it may be difficult for many people to understand this, but sales people at dealerships at not human. Prior to walking into the building they are. When they are with their families on Thanksgiving they are. But the second they put on their name tag and dealership shirt, they become lower than human and will do everything in their power to suck you dry of every last cent. Do NOT go into there thinking they are your friend. They could care less about your day, your job, your struggles.. the second they close on the deal with you, they move onto the next person. Once you start negotiating and come up with a final price you are willing to pay... tell them the monthly pay you're willing to accept MINUS $20 more. if you're willing to pay $500 a month, say $480. The worst that can happen is they say they can't.. but then get up and walk out. 99% of the time the manager will stop you.

If you know exactly what you want to pay for a new truck and know exactly what you want for your trade then you stick to your guns and get it. Dealerships can easily knock 10k off a truck and still make plenty of profit. It all depends on how badly they want to sell. Their is no reason to spend 5/6 hours at a dealership just to purchase a vehicle but they all work that way to wear you down. NEVER PAY STICKER and also watch out for their FAKE fees. Never pay a destination charge UNLESS you ordered a vehicle, if it's already on there lot then make them pay it.

I noticed you got ripped off and screwed by the dealer. Not even a bed liner for an MSRP of 43k ?? I paid under 25k for my single cab with Uconnect 3, bedliner back up camera, chrome appearance, and power group. I hope they at least kissed you before you left.

Gotta ask why you went Dodge instead of Chevy, Ford, Nissan or Toyota?

Price. I would't mind a Ford, Nissan or Toyota if I could get it for the price of a Ram. The Chevy/GMC seemed boxy when driving and under powered with a 5.3 V8. I believe the Ram express is that nice mix between not the most basic pickup, but not overly priced with options I don't want.

jay son is this truck still named a Dodge in Canada? In the US, Ram is now separate from Dodge for almost a decade.

In my opinion, Ford trucks are ugly since 2005. Chevy gmc have always been ugly. Toyota is respectable but avoid mad and all options. Alllll computers that WILL FAIL before its paid off
