It’s all about perspective Mr/Mrs, please read my own take on this situation as I believe as Gen Z’s we see things in a different perspective.

Gen Z's embrace of AAVE as a form of cultural expression and identity is deeply tied to their values of diversity, inclusivity, and social justice. Here are some key reasons why AAVE has become a way for Gen Z to connect with Black culture and show solidarity: Cultural Authenticity: AAVE is rooted in the linguistic traditions of African American communities. By using AAVE, Gen Z individuals may feel they are authentically engaging with and respecting Black culture, rather than appropriating it. Social Justice and Anti-Racism: Many Gen Z members are actively involved in social justice movements and are committed to fighting racism and promoting equality. Using AAVE can be a way for them to demonstrate solidarity with Black communities and challenge linguistic biases and stereotypes. Inclusivity and Representation: Gen Z values diversity and representation in all aspects of culture, including language. By incorporating AAVE into their speech and online interactions, they promote linguistic diversity and challenge the dominance of standard English norms. Digital and Pop Culture Influence: AAVE has gained prominence through social media, music, and entertainment. Gen Z, being highly influenced by these mediums, adopts AAVE as a natural part of their online and offline interactions, further normalizing its use. Identity Formation: Language is a crucial aspect of identity formation. For many Gen Z individuals, using AAVE can be a way to express their identity, solidarity with marginalized groups, and their stance against cultural hegemony. In summary, the adoption of AAVE by Gen Z reflects a broader societal shift towards valuing diverse linguistic and cultural expressions. It represents a conscious effort to embrace inclusivity, respect cultural diversity, and challenge linguistic norms that may exclude or marginalize certain communities.

However, I'm going to address some points here that lack on how AAVE has been used by Gen Z and why is not a way for solidarity: "By using AAVE, Gen Z individuals may feel they are authentically engaging with and respecting Black culture, rather than appropriating" - It is impossible to really feel authentically engaged in Black culture using AAVE unless you are Black. Let me explain why here: Some terms in AAVE were made by and for Black people to use. Terms like "Sis" and "Bro" for example, are to show solidarity and community between other Black men and Black women. AAVE started in the slave trade period, and terms like this keep community and culture alive, especially in times when you need it the most when you feel oppressed, isolated and stripped away from your culture. They are still used to express solidarity for these groups because systematic and social oppression still exists. Yet during the 2010's, when these terms were used the most by non-Black people, nobody was talking about the history of it or acknowledge where it comes from. People were simply using it as a way to address other male friends or female friends. Non-Black people who used it didn't know where it even came from, they would probably have though "Oh, these are just some Gen Z expressions that come from America". Now, why did nobody acknowledge the origin of the words? Because that would mean admitting that these terms are made for a certain oppressed group and that when we use it we are washing down what they really mean for this community. I would be lying if I said these are the only terms where people, especially Gen Z, have used it and knew nothing about where it comes from or how is even used. A term now used still by Gen Z "Babygirl" which people think it means an "attractive men" or "middle aged men" actually is used as a way to address a young girl to a younger women, or elders calling a young woman or girls. And this is disregarded by the media as "Gen Z" slang, not only by the media but by Gen Z themselves too, especially white Gen Zers. If AAVE was genuinely respected and valued by Gen Z we would have acknowledged where it comes from, how is used, and why many Black people have told us for a long time to please stop using it. "Many Gen Z members are actively involved in social justice movements and are committed to fighting racism and promoting equality. Using AAVE can be a way for them to demonstrate solidarity with Black communities and challenge linguistic biases and stereotypes." - While you are right that yes, many of us are trying to actively be involved in social issues to dismantle white supremacy and call for equity (which is more desirable than equality, but I digress here) using AAVE is not a way for us to demonstrate solidarity and there are other better ways that we can express solidarity that has been told by Black communities. For example, well for starters actively and genuinely listening to AND boosting Black voices when it comes to AAVE and talking to other people about the social issues of using AAVE. Other example, standing up for injustice when we see it in an individual and collective level whether that is talking to that person, calling them out or protesting online and in person. The use of AAVE which many Black communities have told us to not use if we are not Black, is not a way for us to "challenge linguistic biases and stereotypes". This is because of the very fact, that despite decades that have passed of Gen Z (and even millennials) using AAVE (appropriately so), linguistic biases and stereotypes persist and nothing has changed by Genzers using AAVE. We have used it in a culturally appropriate way as mentioned before. As explained by an article (which I strongly suggest everyone to read, the author is Kara McAndrew, the title: Why Non-Black Creators Need to Stop Using AAVE on Social Media), we appropriating the language without using it correctly and acknowledging where it comes from all while ignoring Black communities is just playing to white supremacy. As better explained by the author: "Wearing Blackness as a costume for material gain and refusing to give credit where it is due or return that profit to Black spaces furthers racial inequalities and promotes the minstrel idea that Blackness is a costume. When non-Black people wear Blackness as a costume, there is a power imbalance because those same derogatory perceptions of Black people who use AAVE do not apply to non-Black digital creators" This also goes to respond to the points you made on inclusivity and representation, digital and pop culture influence. However, I'd like to add that as for the digital and pop culture influences. From a linguistic point of view (as someone who has been part of social media spaces and seen different online communities), people don't naturally go outside to speak in AAVE, unless they have genuinely grown up in a Black-dominated space in real life. It is a purposefully made effort. I would know because I and other non-Black people I've been with have used AAVE and this did NOT naturally come out from our vocabulary. Trust me after the so-called "Gen Z" trend passes nobody comes back to using or implanting this vocab again unless it becomes "trendy" because again AAVE is viewed as a trendy Gen Z, not as a language by and for Black communities which is one of the problems. Even outside of AAVE, in other online communities, the use of terms is purposefully said. For example in K-pop, people use "bias" to refer to their favourite member but nobody naturally says it as their way of speaking, it is purposefully said because you are within that community. When you are outside it you never say it again, because nobody knows what it means, unless they are familiar with K-pop. "Language is a crucial aspect of identity formation. For many Gen Z individuals, using AAVE can be a way to express their identity, solidarity with marginalized groups, and their stance against cultural hegemony" - as said before it is not the way for us to express solidarity, not when Black communities are saying to stop using it. I think there are other ways to form an identity without having to use AAVE as an identity that was not for non-Black people to begin with. If we want to express a stance against cultural hegemony we should probably try to collectively think of terms to use that do not mean appropriating and sacrificing the meaning of an oppressed community. You are right to say language is a crucial aspect of identity formation, it is, but many other communities don't involve us appropriating a language and indirectly perpetuating the social quo. Think of communities like fashion, music and many others, they are great for developing identity, hobbies and connect with other people. As for your conclusion, "the adoption of AAVE by Gen Z reflects a broader societal shift towards valuing diverse linguistic and cultural expressions. It represents a conscious effort to embrace inclusivity, respect cultural diversity, and challenge linguistic norms that may exclude or marginalize certain communities." - valuing something means to truly respect and acknowledge where it comes from, when is used, and why. Until we have genuinely stopped using AAVE and listened to Black people on why AAVE is very important for the Black community, I don't think we can truly say we value diverse linguistic and cultural expressions fully. And thus, we cannot say we embrace inclusivity, respect, and cultural diversity. I'm sorry for this long response and some repetitions, I believe you may find more information online and in books.
