Yes, I agree 100 percent. Worked for a large employer in Southern California from age 30 to age 42 (12-years) that, had both a traditional pension and a 401(K) plan. Afterward, worked for local government agency from age 43 to age 63 (20-years) that, had both a pension and a 457 plan. So, far during retirement there has been no need for me to touch either my 401(K) or my 457 funds. (smile...smile).

I worked for the same company for 32 years, and have now retired. I am now retired at 55 and have a DB pension that is worth $1.8 million. DB pensions are incredibly valuable.

Your pension is worth 1. The lump sum payment if offered or 2. The amount you would need to buy an immediate annuity that would pay the same monthly amount.

Meaningless. Treat your pension and SS as working income.

Yep, we treat my wife’s $200k per year govt pension as meaningless. 😂
