In this video I show you how much it costs to put a coyote engine into your classic mustang, Cougar, Fairlane, Maverick, Falcon, or F100. I provided a link to a spreadsheet that you can download to help you with planning your build.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing this. I had started a similar worksheet but this one has a better organization. I may extend my copy to include other expenses - such as teardown and build up (body work, paint, wiring, etc) as if you were doing a resto. Maybe break it out in to different tabs to show phases. I also think your pricing is pretty much dead on and realistic. The sheet options are great and I can extend to include other variations of engine selection for comparison - such as V6 or the F150 version coyote. I also like the MTF subframe options instead of the Schwartz (although I can agree the Schwartz appears to be the pinnacle high end option).

Hello ARob! This video is a God send. Appreciate your work for the spreadsheet and drop down menus for other parts that might be need! I have a classic 67 Mustang Gt S-code Coupe currently with a Ford 460 mild build engine. Was a full blown 8 sec race car (not this motor in it) so suspension brakes, exhaust, etc is good to go. Will have to cut the shock towers (should have done that already for the 460) and that should bring the $9600 down considerably. Was also thinking of a 7.3 Godzilla swap but that would be alot more. Thanks again for this awesome video. Cheers from Motown/Dearborn

How possible is it to swap out the front end components/drivetrain from a 1st gen f150 into a old Ford? Maybe rear end aswell?
@arobsgarage6672
@arobsgarage6672 3 жыл бұрын
It is very possible. It takes a lot of work and unfortunately a lot of money as well. The major interference is the shock towers. They either need to be notched or completely removed which means your front suspension needs to be updated as well. Rear end is possible, you would need to have the rear end shortened and new brackets welded on for what ever rear suspension type you choose.

Hello I want to buy a replica shell and build it from scratch. Any idea what that would cost with a gen3 engine?
@phoenixgaudet3270
@phoenixgaudet3270 Жыл бұрын
there’s a lot of factors. depending on the body you use, your suspension setup, etc etc. if you’re looking for a clean, complete setup, i’d expect to pay $70k-$100k for the entire build. that’s with an assumption of using a front/rear suspension setup (about $6k) brakes ($4k) the body ($20k+) your whole powertrain including wiring harnesses, pedals, motor accessories, Id say about $15k-$20k. It may differ depending on what you feel like doing, but we just did a build similar to what you’re describing in a 67 shell, with a gen 3 with a 10 speed auto, turbo kit, the works and he paid about $143k but also got a bunch of stuff you probably wouldn’t need/want.

I wonder why anybody would do this to a classic/vintage Mustang. Seems rather stupid to do so. I have a fully restored, red/with black interior, '66 "K" code Mustang 2+2 fastback and I'd never even consider doing this swap to it. It's value is over $100k as it is. Modding it like this would decrease it's value.
